Headup have announced that the sci-fi mystery adventure game Trüberbrook from developer btf is going to release on March 12th and this will include Linux support.

While the Steam store page doesn't list Linux (GOG does) in the system requirements, the press email just recently sent out very clearly states Linux support still so that's good news.

Originally funded thanks to over five thousand people on Kickstarter, Trüberbrook is inspired by the likes of Twin Peaks and X-Files. What makes it truly interesting is the graphical style, which has scenery that's entirely hand-made (as in fingers and glue). More about that:

The models were digitized using a technique called photogrammetry and later simplified for real-time rendering. Every scene got an individual treatment and was staged with actual physical lighting. This allowed the developers to simulate different hours of the day or weather conditions. Even a change of seasons was possible just by redecorating those sets, for example with real tiny little snowflakes — no joke!

Every variation of the miniature models was photographed and got re-projected onto the digital model. Using various compositing workflows, the characters were integrated into the scenery with digital lighting and real-time shadows. This way, highly detailed low poly models developed that blend perfectly with the digital characters. Each level was finalized by adding effects like light reflections, particle effects and depth of field.

I think I'm going to enjoy this one! I'm always keen to play more modern adventure games and the sci-fi setting sounds awesome.

You can wishlist and follow it on GOG and Steam.

I've been looking forward to this one ever since the kickstarter. I hope the writing is good, then it'll be a must have for me.

OMG, that looks fantastic.

... and with proper voice acting too, not just the dull text dialogues - and really good voice actors! Great art style, looks totally worth buying.

If the writing and game design is even half as good as the visuals then this should be a great game. Fingers crossed.

As a backer of the KS campaign, I'm happy to see that they have kept their promises about Linux release, DRM-Free...
I hope the game will be great too!

Quoting: Beamboom... and with proper voice acting too

The voice acting is good, but the English translation (from German?) sounds a bit too literal...

Maybe... But I'm totally open for filing that under "charming" and not be too affected by it. :)

It's strange if that's the case though, one should believe that voice actors of this calibre could/would comment on that.
