Steam, Fanatical and others all have some big sales on right now so here's a little look over what to expect from them all.
First up, we have the Steam Lunar New Year Sale which is an interesting one. Valve are actually offering £5/$5 off your first purchase of at least £30/$30 and Valve themselves are funding that extra discount, so developers don't get even less money. Interesting way to do it! It doesn't need to be a single game, as long as your cart hits at least that amount.
Additionally, you can grab some tokens here to get some extra discounts and you get more tokens to get more prizes after buying more stuff. Valve is again, funding these extra discounts themselves.
Of course, there's too many games for sale for me to list even a fraction of them! You can find all Linux games on sale at this link. Their sale ends February 11th.
That's not all from Valve though, on February 8th at 10 AM Pacific/6PM UTC the winners of the Steam Awards will be announced and the broadcast will be on Steam.tv which is a first.
On top of that, Fanatical also just announced their own Lunar New Year Sale with tons of games discounted, they're even offering an additional 8% off if you use the discount code "LUNAR8".
While you're here, just a reminder that Humble Store also has plenty of bundles going on like the Caffeine bundle which includes games like This War of Mine, Tyranny, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and so on.
Humble also have book bundles you might fancy, including "Break into the Game Industry" and "Programming Cookbooks".
GOG fans don't need to miss out either, as they have their own Weekly Sale with some great Linux games cheaper too.
Quoting: ziabiceIf I recall correctly, it's the first time that Valve gives customers money (credit) for purchases: game stores battle has begun!
I wouldn't go as far as them giving you money. I received 5000 tokens and I have a suspicion that that is the maximum amount. Since you need 15000 to get 5 euro off, you need to spend 83 Euro to get there. I small return from the money they earn.

You get 5$/€ off your first purchase above 30$/€. They literally pay this out of their own pockets. You pay less, the devs still get everything.
The 15000 tokens are just required for the additional 5€ off.

Apparently it's too late for reading properly. :O Well, their cut is still more than that, so they'll cope. It's not clear about whether that must be a single game, so I suspect a bunch together will qualify as well.

Not a single game, just need to put something that's worth 30€ in the cart. I bought 2 games, got 5€ off and paid 25,98€. So instead of ~9€ they just made ~4€.

Nice dig but thanks i have a pretty good life but besides which a lot of the things people claim they dont have the time to do is because they are making time to do bullshit things like get shit faced and do drugs i dont do either of those things. Not saying you do but if you do cut those out and you ll be amazed how much time you save.
Initially, Imma sit out from this sales. Its still early 2019!! All games already bought it up last Christmas.
But still:
