It's question time once again, time to tell the world what you've been playing and let us know if it's worth getting.
I've actually been really enjoying Sid Meier's Civilization VI with the new expansion, it's far more addictive than I originally thought. While I previously got bored with it after a few rounds, that's no longer the case.
The disasters system with climate change adds so much to the game to seriously make it that much more interesting. Soon my English army shall take over what's left of the world…
In regards to the performance of the port (which isn't great in the later game), Aspyr Media did say this on Reddit:
The answer is actually not technical, but simply bandwidth. Frankly, it was a valentines miracle to get Linux out along-side Windows in a playable state that we were happy with AND cross platform. There will be time for optimizations once the dust settles, and we will continue to optimize for as long as we work on the product. For Civ V, that was years.
As for other games, I still can't pull myself away from Rocket League. Now that I have a few hundred hours in it, the amount of tricks I can pull off is increasing all the time, once you get to grips with some aerial maneuvers the game certainly opens up a bit.
Another shout out to Streets of Rogue, still one of my absolute favourite indie games. The amount of time I'be put into this is nuts. Probably one of the funniest games I've ever played with friends. Absolutely check it out if you haven't and do have a look at our video of it!
Have had a bash on Mean greens last night with a few friends , had a right laugh tbh
And also Stellaris. Again. Always...
...but dont't worry, I can quit whenever I want, ya know :P

I grabbed Civ VI in the sale, but I've only played an hour or so in the Alexander the Great campaign, haven't played a traditional game of Civ in it yet.
I also grabbed Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is looking pretty good (only played about an hour again); War for the Overworld which is a great "sequel" to the Dungeon Keeper series, very fun; Door Kickers, which isn't as good as I thought it'd be; and Melody's Escape, I am really not very good at, but it'd be pretty fun if I had hand-eye co-ordination.
I've been playing/testing/reviewing many games like always. The more or less recently (2019), i think :
- Wayward, the great survival and crafting game
- AI War 2, still in beta but well worth my time
- Loria, the heavily Warcraft inspired RTS
- WH40K Gladius, a nice wargame 4X
- The Mean Greens, a FPS with toy soldiers
- Shotgun Farmers, another FPS with silly idea of guns growing out of ammo
- Odd Realm, a real potentially Dwarf Fortress cousin, with z levels too
- Interstellar Marines, FPS with an amazing feel
- Dwarf Fortress, i come back to it every few months or years, always great
- Kaiju Big Battel Fighto Fantasy, a weird but cool turn based JRPG with kaiju
- Vintage Story, a Minecraft-like that i much prefer to its model
and too many others... I usually don't play one game to its end, but i jump between easily 20 games over a few weeks, and i keep coming back to them from now and then. So, i play some games since last millenium, even if only a few days per year.
On Steam alone, based on the sorted list "This month", it's about 65 games i've launch, but many of them only a few minutes to test an update or check something.
Call of Juarez Gunslinger via steam play - Nice game once you tweak the files to increase FoV etc.
Hopefully the LongWar Port will be done soon so there is more action.
Also today I finished RAGE from iD Software.
Yesterday, I finished (after many many many many years) Indiana Jones and the Emperors Tomb.
\o/
I have been playing a jewel of a tower defense game also, Elemental War. I bought it during the Winter Sale and already have about 50 hours on it. I really enjoy it. (my Steam review
Also had a bit of fun flying in IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad (wine). There is a fresh guide how to set it up on Linux in their forum.
Next on the agenda will The Witcher 3 . This might become the first Witcher game that keeps me playing after the tutorial ;-)
Both games have a lot to explore if you don't want to just plough through the main story line.
Both run excellently with Proton, haven't found any issues with many hours of play.
Sadly I couldn't use my Witcher 1 savegames. Seems not to work, because I bought TW1 on GOG and TW2 on steam :-(
So I do not have my nice Swords and less Orens.
Otherwise I had lots of fun with TW1 and will play all three titles to enjoy the whole story.
