Seriously loving this revival of retro-looking first-person shooters coming out lately, with Prodeus being another that's now on Kickstarter and it does look very impressive.
The interesting thing about this one, is that I did ask on Steam back in November last year about Linux support and they said it would be for Windows. Seems they changed their mind on this, with their Kickstarter which states they are "Targeting PC platforms". Curious about their wording, I sent them a message and they replied to say this:
Surprising really to see a developer not use "PC" to simply mean Windows, it's not something we see very often. I did suggest they make it more clear but they haven't done so yet.
Take a look:
Direct Link
The campaign has until April 24th to get $52,500 and they've already got over $14,000 backed so it's looking like they should quite easily get funded. Not surprising, I think it looks fantastic. They said the campaign funding is to help bring in additional developers like artists, designers, animators, and engineers to expand the content for release.
As for the release, it's expected to enter Early Access this "fall" (which should include Linux support going by what they said) and the full release next year.
Head over to the Kickstarter here and wishlist on the Steam page.
We'll more than likely need Linux testers at some point in the future, so if you would like to be around for that, join our discord discord.gg/GY3gCQU and say Hi in the Linux section for a tag.
Thanks again!
Quoting: prodeus_devWanted to chime in and say thanks all for the kind words and feedback, we really do read all the comments and take everything into consideration.

Please implement body damage like in Soldier Of Fortune, in which you can torn apart legs and arms depending on were you fire, that will be great!
Game-play is the key! Focus on movement, weapon/item/upgrade/whatever handling, feedback for every action instead of eye-candy. Btw: that's why there is so much blood, it is feedback. OK, and a bit of visual sugar. Thoughtful level geometry beats textures in any resolution. Beautiful player models mean nothing if you cannot control them with the needed precision. No one likes to shoot mighty weapons that sound and feel more like "pew pew".
Graphics make a game look nice in trailers and screenshots, but if you are just after that, go watch some tech demos in benchmark tools or something.
That said: I'm no fan of the post-processing here either.
Quoting: GuestLooks ugly, totally misses the point of pixel art.
Fully agree. That post-processing pixel grid is awful.
Ofc, it's a matter of taste.
Maybe they'll optionally offer other aesthetics too. :)

Haha, yes. ;)
Is it possible to turn off the grid?
One of the lower-res sampling without it could be just my cup of tea. :D
