OtherSide Entertainment have teased out a new short video of System Shock 3 and it may see Linux support.
Not to be confused with the crowdfunded System Shock reboot that Nightdive Studios are currently working on. System Shock 3 is being made with some of the original team behind the first two games as well like Warren Spector, so it should remain faithful to the series while being a rather nice upgrade in visuals.
System Shock 3 was was originally being made in partnership with the publisher Starbreeze, but OtherSide parted ways with them since Starbreeze is in financial troubles. According to OtherSide, this hasn't affected the development.
Now, they've given us a first decent look at the game so you can have a look below:

Obviously it's not much, it's just a teaser but still pretty exciting stuff.
Since I haven't been following this along too closely, I wasn't entirely sure what their plans were for the release platforms, that and information about System Shock 3 is pretty limited. Given how OtherSide Entertainment are working on bringing Underworld Ascendant to Linux and System Shock 3 is being made in Unity, I thought it possible.
When asked about it on Twitter today, the team from x said this:
Too early for us to confirm anything yet, but once the process is nailed down with UA*, it should be easier for our future titles to see Mac and Linux releases.
*UA being Underworld Ascendant.
As for how Underworld Ascendant for Linux is coming along, they're working on it constantly but they still don't have an exact date for it just yet. Their Community Managed stated recently that a Linux build should be available between Update 3 and Update 4, possibly next month.
This little teaser clip looks alright, perhaps nothing spectacular graphics-wise but these games are all about the gameplay. If it looks this pretty or better while delivering a modern System Shock experience, natively? Then we got ourselves a winner. :)

To my mind System Shock 2 was one of the best games. I expect System Shock 3 to be atleast as good as part 2.
But I guess we will get another dumped down console game because modern gamers are fastly overstrained.
