Also apparently the GOG version of Stellaris is no good since it does not support cross platform MP I think? As in you can only play with other GOGers, not with steam people. If MP is what yo after.

Are you sure about that? Paradox made their own launcher and untied the multiplayer from Steam last year so people using the paradox launcher can play with those using steam.

And the GOG Stelaris page claims:

Stellaris includes a beta version of the new PDX multiplayer system, allowing for cross-play with friends regardless of which PC games distribution platform they are playing from. Paradox will continue to support and develop this feature.

Good to see them untying the multiplayer from a specific store.
