Released late yesterday, the Wine team officially put out a new development release with Wine 4.5 now available.

Highlights from this release:

  • Support for Vulkan 1.1.
  • Better support for kernel objects in device drivers.
  • Still more Media Foundation APIs implemented.
  • Support for SVG elements in MSHTML.
  • Fixes for case conversion troubles in Turkish locale.

They also noted another round of bug fixes, with 30 in total marked as solved. As always, some might have been fixed in earlier released and only noticed now. Of those bugs it includes issues fixed with The Sims, League Of Legends, Settlers III and more.

Once they get Media Foundation APIs solid, that should be another big tick for a lot of games that currently have issues. It's certainly going to be interested to watch Wine evolve along with Steam Play, since Valve's contracted work with CodeWeavers has already helped.

I wonder what the 'case conversion troubles in the Turkish locale' were. Probably has to do with the fact that lowercase 'i' in Turkish has its uppercase counterpart in 'İ' [capital I with a dot on top], while uppercase 'I' becomes 'ı' in lowercase [miniscule 'i' without the dot].

I've tested Darksiders - Warmastered Edition with this release, FMV's are still a no go even with this release (staging patches included).

How did you get F1 Racing stars to run?
I don't have any luck and using 4.2 proton

Once Star Citizen 3.5 drops I'll download it and give it a shot, see how she runs. I hear 3.5 has performance improvements worth talking about... we will see.

Can't wait for when SC gets Vulkan, that will just be amazeballs...

Unfortunately, faudio is stuck for example with entering Debian, so it's not recommended upgrading Wine past 4.2, unless you have faudio ready.

QuoteStill more Media Foundation APIs implemented.

Does someone knows if this could improve something with wine games?

What's the story with Star Citizen in general? When is single player campaign coming out, and how much of the multiplayer universe is ready? Last time I've looked into it, it was just a tiny prototype.
