Wine 4.7 continues the development towards Wine 5.0 with another of their biweekly releases now available.
What's new and improved:
- Support for builtin libraries in PE format even on Unix.
- Updated version of the Mono engine.
- More implementation of the Debug Engine DLL.
- Support for the Command Link standard control.
- Improved Edit control sizing in CJK locales.
- Various bug fixes.
For the bug fixes, they noted 34 now marked as solved. As always, some may be older bugs being re-tested that were fixed previously. Issues were solved with Star Wars The Old Republic, Watch_Dogs, SpellForce 3, Rockstar Games Social Club, Sniper Elite V2, Sniper Elite 3 and more including issues solved that affected multiple games and applications.
See the full release announcement here.
As always, I continue to be impressed by the incredible work everyone hacking away at Wine are able to achieve. The task they have is a monumental one and it's not easy but lots of people appreciate it, even more so now since it's part of Steam Play which has helped to essentially validate all their effort.
I was going to give up on writing puns in the headlines, but I like giving you reasons to Wine.
In test with d9vk improvements are so much compared wined3d (around 2x performance with around 50% less cpu usage)
Last test with Pentium G3258 @ 4.1ghz + Artic Cooling Alpine 11 Plus

Quoting: TheRiddickis d9vk and vk9 one and the same? I know the VK9 guy left for life reasons, is that code being pulled over to d9vk?
No, they are not the same. d9vk is based on dxvk. vk9 is a separate effort. d9vk looks more promising today.
Quoting: garpuCan't wait for d9vk to be production-ready. I'm hoping it makes a difference with Guild Wars 2.
Same here! GW2!!!
