Little Red Dog Games (Deep Sixed, Rogue State) are bringing their war and diplomacy game Precipice to Linux next month on May 1st. Precipice pulls in some inspiration from the 1985 game Balance of Power from Chris Crawford and GMT Games' Twilight Struggle.

According to the leader developer Ryan Hewer "Precipice isn't a wargame, it's a game of subterfuge. You will send agents around the world, protecting your closest allies and changing unfavorable regimes without giving away your long-term ambitions. For that reason, this game is a strategic gem where your success will depend squarely on your ability to misdirect your rival and show bravery when it is needed.".

Features it will offer:

  • Tense strategy for one or two players. Face a highly-responsive, unpredictable AI that will attempt to understand your strategy and counter it at every turn, or invite a friend and see if you can collectively work to avoid global catastrophe online.
  • World leaders from 72 countries realized as animals native to the region, all pawns in the dangerous game of nuclear chicken.
  • Manage resources from territories under your control to resolve immediate crises or win over future allies.
  • Recreate history, or forge your own path. Put a bear on the moon. The possibilities are endless.
  • Simple, intuitive gameplay that is also difficult to master.

Also, I've been told at launch it will also feature Steam lobby integration, player-rank unlockables, multiple map modes and multiple AI settings so it has a lot going for it. For those who're interested in the technical details, this is another game built with Godot Engine.

You can wishlist and follow it on Steam. From the details I was sent, it will be $11.99 at release and they will do a two-pack for $17.99 so you can easily buddy up and take down a friend a little cheaper.

It sounds very interesting, so I will be taking a look hopefully.

A pitty...
For what it's worth, it's coming. I gave a quick explanation here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/951670/discussions/0/1815422173031540745/

Awesome, will buy it as soon as available on Steam.

Also, the youtube video with real actors is nice. Another reason for buying.
