There's really not a lot out there like Descenders to be honest, especially supported on Linux. Not just that, the game is actually very fun and the update to add in multiplayer has expanded the game in many ways. It feels like a complete game now, which is obviously important.
The full release has given the starting hub a makeover too, it's now huge with a lot more to do and other players will be riding around with you which makes it a lot more interesting. Before it was a mostly plain starting area, something just a little more fancy than a main menu. Now it's actually more of a social hub, with plenty more to practice on and the feature now makes more sense and it's actually quite nice to ride around in. Take a look, it's really sweet (click to enlarge):
Performance now seems pretty good overall too, with some settings on Ultra it mostly remains at 60FPS and above and it does feel smooth. So with the Linux version, it's really looking good. Not just performance though, graphically it's actually pretty good looking too.
You can pick it up from Humble Store and Steam.
Oh the new Career plus courses are really nice too. Overall an A rated game for me.
Quoting: jbatsonEarly access game play was awesome. The update is nice as well with a few complaints. The playground that you start in the bike speeds need to increase, they are just to slow to do any real tricks like double backflips and 720's or using the half pipe. The other complaint is when you are riding slow and you turn the view turns really sloooowwww. This should change at the rate that the rider is turning. It seems really slow and its hard to judge how far you have actually turned. Overall I love the game, it's just fun. That's why I bought it as alot of the games I play are shooters and really intense. You know, I actually agree with you on those points and should have noted them in the article really. Turn speed and bike speed in the casual lobby area are an issue indeed.
