Our ten year anniversary is coming close now and it's been some time since this was mentioned: GamingOnLinux is entirely funded by our readers. We have no adverts and no timed-exclusive articles, just the news as we get it direct into your feed and that's how we want to keep it.

In addition to the almost daily articles (some weekends we do take a break!), we have regular livestreams on Twitch and semi-regular YouTube videos along with the newer weekly News Punch podcast for those struggling to keep up. Plenty more is planned for the future too!

If you are able to support us, we would appreciate it. There's many ways to do so listed below:

You can also buy games using our affiliate links each time:

All the ways to support us, can be found on this page.

If you're unable to using those methods, sharing our content across your favourite social sites, Reddit and so on is also very helpful to expand our reach and ensure people know we exist.

Thank you for your support, hopefully you all had a great weekend. We're already gearing up for another full week!

I am the owner of GamingOnLinux. After discovering Linux back in the days of Mandrake in 2003, I constantly came back to check on the progress of Linux until Ubuntu appeared on the scene and it helped me to really love it. You can reach me easily by emailing GamingOnLinux directly.

You do a great job at covering gaming on Linux, which is why I have been frequenting this site for years now. Keep it up, and happy anniversary!

Perhaps someday I can help support you, since I do appreciate your content. We're just not in the position to do this atm due to financial issues. I do try to help when possible. Appreciate it!

Well I am no more into gaming as much as I used to , literally no time at all but I visit Gaming on Linux often I Can say as well as other gaming sites.

Gamingonlinux was one of the first sites I visited and contributed.
I used to donate in the past with paypal and then patreon and donated some games as well for giveaways when GamingOnLinux had their Anniversary etc.
When I Stopped donating for some time , I lost my support badge and ended with an ugly white theme even though Liam said that it will be forever for people who donated, well that pissed me off a bit since the black theme was only for Supporters so I ended up creating my own theme.

Well since I Stopped/reduced gaming I stopped as well from donating and even if I had the intention to donate via paypal I would still have the limitations of black theme or whatever else is for premium members so instead of donating to Gamingonlinux I have donated to phoronix, plex and some oher services for lifetime subscription and if I feel like I could donate some more from time to time.

Is good to have supporters but dont kick away the people who have supported you in the past.
It was just a badge and a black theme and instead of let us have it you just kick us out.

People who have donated even 1$ should have the black theme and badge support
People who continuously support you via patreon or paypal or other method ,these people should have access to black theme , exclusive articles , steam keys etc.

Anyway I just expressed my complain like it or not , find ways to attract people and keep also your visitors and past contributors happy.

Have a nice day ..

The dark theme is available to everyone, has been since early February this year.

Also, I don't think I ever previously said either the supporter badge or dark theme (when it was for supporters only) would be a permanent thing if people stopped supporting. Happy to be wrong on that, but I don't think I ever said that.

We don't do lifetime subs, because they're not financially worth it. Other sites, like Phoronix, have adverts to pick up some slack and we do not.

And no, I will never do exclusive articles for supporters only. I've always said that, that's not how we operate and never will.

I think I have done at least two things in my life that are 100% worth it: buying Minecraft and supporting GamingOnLinux.

Just 200$ and Liam will get to his next Patreon goal: "safely upgrade the server again to handle all the additional traffic we've been getting over time and gives us a small room for extra spikes in traffic"

(I recently increased my subscription with 3 more $$).

BTW Liam, did you think about giving different badges depending on the reward? ty

I have retired my XMPP (who needs this when Matrix exists, duh) server and repurposed the saved cost of the VPS to a $5 monthly donation to GoL.

Are PayPal donations counted on Patreon? I'm hesitant to touch anything Patreon due to some questionable ethics regarding censorship.
