I found it more engaging than Pillars with a more interesting setting too. I'd add a recommendation for Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition. I played through this a few months ago and was very surprised about how fun the whole thing was. On paper, a linear, battle-heavy RPG with little in the way of story would not appeal to me, but I actually had a blast with the default party. Don't overlook this one.
