Relic Hunters Legend, the crowdfunded shoot and loot RPG from Rogue Snail is gearing up for the Alpha release this month.

It sounds like it's going to be quite fun, an online co-op shoot and loot RPG from the creators of Chroma Squad, Dungeonland and Relic Hunters Zero. If you've not heard of it before, when it's eventually ready it will be going free to play so everyone can jump in, however they went to Kickstarter originally to get the funded need to actually make the game a reality.

In their official update on Kickstarter, they've now set a date for June 22nd. I spoke to the developer personally, to ask if the Alpha includes Linux support and they told me "Hey there Liam, it sure does!" so that's awesome to know.

Their lack of regular communication is due to the person responsible having a family tragedy, however they make it clear the development of the game has continued as normal.

With their eventual free to play release, those concerned about any pay to win shenanigans should be able to rest easy. They said "We assure you: everything can be earned by playing the game, and you will never be stuck behind a pay-wall; this we can guarantee.".

If you do want to play it during the Alpha, you can find their Founder Packs on their official site with the $20 tier giving you access on June 22nd. It will also eventually come to Steam, although not until next year by the looks of it.

Free to play? Any word on what model of ftp they're going to do? Also, this project doesn't have the word "roguelike" written anywhere, does it? It looks fun, that's for sure.

They do have a rogue-like tag on Steam, but it's not clear in what way that's meant.
