SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, the fun card-based tactical RPG from Image and Form (developer) and Thunderful (publisher) can now be picked up DRM-free on GOG.

SteamWorld Quest is the roleplaying card game you’ve been waiting for! Lead a party of aspiring heroes through a beautifully hand-drawn world and intense battles using only your wits and a handful of cards. Take on whatever threat comes your way by crafting your own deck choosing from over 100 unique punch-cards!

What awaits you is a luscious treasure chest filled with gold, dragons, vivid worlds, magic, knights in shining armor as well as XP, turn-based battles and all that good RPG stuff! The game’s humorous mix of traditional fantasy and steampunk robots makes for an unforgettable experience with lots of laughs.

Note: You can see my thoughts on the game from the previous article here. I don't want to repeat it all but the gist of it is that it's really damn fun and worth looking at.

The Linux version has been flawless, I don't really have any gripes with the game at all. I don't often find myself enjoying a game as much as this while also having nothing bad at all to say about it. Like all card-based games the RNG can sometimes hit you but it comes with the territory and the actual card system they use is really good.

Find SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech on GOG now.

Quoting: scaineI really need to update to 18.04 so I can play this. LOVE this developer. And this looks just awesome.

Not necessarily, I've been able to launch it on Debian 9 which has dinosaur software versions. Basically the game requires GLIBC 2.27 minimum. Try this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qSDPZzWxl0QaPZTwK0xfR4Rvsz84ugR4 (it's a collection of GLIBC 2.29 libraries built on Debian 9 but should be usable on older systems too).

Installation is simple, extract it in the game's folder where the "Quest" exe is and run play.sh. The package is portable and designed to work only with the game, won't interfere with the system.

Let me know if you get stuck, will do my best to help :)

Thanks! But honestly, I should really just get around to this upgrade. I can't remember what it was now, but another game isn't working... oh yeah, Dicey Dungeons, but it works for others. Maybe this weekend. We'll see...

Instabuy as well, glad it came to Linux/GOG.
I've played a fair few hours of (Chapter 8 I think) it already and while it seems simple at first the complexity steadily creeps in as they introduce more characters, cards, effects and synergies.
Some fights can drag a bit and you really have to like the combat system.
Definitely a solid game that can be captivating.
I personally still favor Steamworld Heist though, the bouncing bullet mechanic is just too much fun.
