Here's a little rundown of some good deals going for Linux users, if you're after something new come and have a look. That is, if you can pull yourself away from the free Dota Underlords from Valve which is currently pulling in masses of players (over 150K right now!).
First up, on Steam for those who perhaps wish to try Steam Play, Killing Floor 2 is currently having a free weekend. This means you can download, install and play for free until Monday and it's on sale with 67% off.
Also, the Steam Summer Sale seems to be confirmed for June 25th. Interestingly, there will be no special trading cards this time as Valve said they're going for something a little different.
GOG are doing a Weekend Sale with some nice Linux titles going a bit cheaper like:
- Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs - 85% off
- Amnesia: The Dark Descent - 85% off
- SOMA - 85% off
- Hand of Fate - 75% off
- Hand of Fate 2 - 40% off
The Detective Hamble sale on Humble Store also has a number of interesting titles included like:
- Grim Fandango Remastered - 80% off
- Fran Bow -75% off
- This Is the Police - 75% off
- >observer_ - 70% off
- The Silver Case - 60% off
- Thimbleweed Park - 50% off
One for the programmers: Humble also have an interesting looking Programming book bundle.
Over on itch.io, they've started their own Summer Sale. Winter Wolves are doing a big sale of some of their classic visual novels, many of which have Linux support too. Their newer games are also on sale although the discount is lower. Also the interesting RTS game Abstractanks is 50% off as well. I will also highly recommend the body-snatching roguelike MidBoss on itch.io with 75% off.
Perhaps you're holding out for an RPG? Got you covered there too, as Fanatical are doing a Beamdog Pick & Mix Bundle and all of them support Linux like Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition.
Is the perfect opportunity for to do a free protonic testing.
On my machine (i7 4790K/ GTX 970 Ubuntu 16.04.6) it works out of the box.
Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoBy the way, Killing Floor 2 is FREEtoPLAY until this Sunday..It's the first thing noted in the article.
