Not only has Rocket League moved onto the second phase of the Radical Summer event complete with a new time-limited game mode, it's also about to turn four.
As the sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Rocket League released on July 7th back in 2015, it later came to Linux in September 2016 and it continues to remain a very popular title regularly pulling in over fifty thousand players and that's just on Steam. When trying it earlier, over two hundred thousand players were in-game overall.
Currently going through a special Radical Summer event, which has just moved into the second phase it's now focusing on "the tightest trends from the 1980s" which includes a new limited-time event mode called Spike Rush. In this mode, right after kick-off all players get spikes on their cars to grab the ball, but once you get the ball you can no longer boost and you're really easy to blow up. If you have the ball, you can also let go at any time, giving you a chance to pull off some slick shots. It's quite hilarious, take a look at some footage of me attempting it:

Also, you might see a "Totally Awesome Crate" start dropping, which contains new items explained here. This second "Culture" phase of the Radical Summer event runs until July 22nd.
I continue to absolutely adore Rocket League, as I close in on 500 hours played. Although I do now turn off normal in-game text chat while keeping on quick-chat, as there's a huge amount of toxic behaviour but once that's done you don't see it so it's great. My absolute #1 game on Linux.
You can pick up Rocket League on Humble Store and Steam (50% off). You can also see their news post here.
