The next Humble Monthly is out, with two more interesting early unlock games

I grabbed the (just ended) July Subscription and very happy that I did:

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (early reveal) - should work fine on Proton
Moonlighter (early reveal) - Linux

Road Redemption - Linux - yay, a wishlist item fulfilled.
Warhammer 40000 Mechanicus - Linux
Love is dead - Windows
60 Parsecs - Windows
Naori, Tower of Shirin - Windows

Probably will get the August subscription, because both early reveals are very appealing to me.
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance - well, I hope I can play it with Proton - it is absolutely my type of game
- Surviving Mars - Linux (yay!)

There's also the Humble Original game "Kind Words" that released brand new with it, has Linux support.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is apparently hard on the frames with Proton. From what I remember from youtube, it especially likes CPU power.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice works great in Proton, and that's the reason I got this bundle, but unfortunately, the game is a disappointment for me. Both combat and puzzling failed to impress me so far. There is a lot of style to the game, but in this case style didn't triumph over substance. I understand why this game had to be confusing and annoying, it's a game about mental illness after all, but it does nothing to help me want to play it. I'll endure a bit more, maybe it gets better as I go, but I doubt it.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus is a pleasent surprise, didn't even know it has Linux client. Looks like my kind of thing, I spent more time on TBS than any other games. On the down side, I know nothing about Warhammer 40,000 universe.

The rest I'll probably just trade away. Road Redemption does look sweet, but I doubt it would hold my attention for more than 15 minutes. I'll skip the next month, not for me.

As far as this bundle goes... I want Surviving Mars but I want the First Colony Edition (on sale of course). Even still, I am saving up my money for some dirt bike parts.

Something to note about Surviving Mars and the Deluxe Editions, if you purchase this humble monthly bundle you get the base game, but you will still have to pay the same price for the Deluxe Edition and First Colony Edition. Meanwhile they say that Valve gets too much money and complain about linux sales declining.

Yeah, I noticed (and was annoyed by) that, too. I thought I could get a cheaper upgrade to First Colony Edition, but nope. Paradox did the same with Stellaris and the "Starter Pack" - learn to use the bundle feature, guys!

I loved Hellblade and completed it over a weekend in two sittings. Loved the combat and thought the puzzle elements were incredibly well done - only one frustrating experience and a "doh!" moment when I solved it. Beautiful game, great experience.

I very recently commented that I was about to buy this game! I held off and I'm delighted I did, since this is a real gem for a Humble Monthly. Looking forward to playing it

Haha! Me too. I already have Surviving Mars and I have no interest in supporting the Kingdom Come devs with even a paltry Humble Monthly download - these guys kickstarted their game with the promise of Linux support, then unceremoniously decided to shaft us... I mean, the duplicity of it was staggering. Here's their response after THREE YEARS of non-delivery, despite the initial promise:

We have no specific information for Linux/Mac unfortunately, even the analysis of the engine would take several months to have complete.

So, they promised Linux support fraudulently to gain interest and groundswell, then admitted three years later that they hadn't even done an analysis on their engine for Linux support. Total scum, imo. They found time to add consoles though. Funny that, eh?

Just as an aside, I found it funny how convoluted Humble make it to pause your subscription to the Humble Monthly. I wasn't exactly counting, but I think they ask "are you sure??" about 3 or 4 times in inventively different ways! You'll lose your 10% discount... are you sure? You'll not have access to the July games... are you sure? Here's a $2 discount this month... are you sure? :)

Funny how people experience things so differently. For me it was a completely disappointing experience. Trivial puzzles and combat (after you figure it out) and too much of it made me too bored by the end to care about anything the game had to tell.

At least they refunded those that wanted the mac/linux version. Something the Bloodstained devs refused to do after they did the same.

I really need to cancel my subscription. I didn't pause last month's in time, so I'm stuck with it.

In the past, the bundles were rather good values (at least, if you are looking at it from a Windows perspective). But the last few months I've either owned the "big" game of the month or I have no interest.

It went "golden" with Proton 4.2.9 (*) and now on 4.2.18 it runs almost perfect (**).

*) on 4.2-9 you had to copy *.dll files from Win64Shared to Win64 in the game's directory and the framerate was 60+ before game update 1.9, after it went to 20-30 fps,
**) on 4.2-18 you still have to copy the DLLs but it runs 60+ fps no issues on gtx1070 in 1440p (high-ish settings, also you want gamemode-git active for this one but I think current Proton install scripts take care of that, not entirely sure).

If I didn't own Kingdom Come already, I would buy this... I couldn't sleep when that game came out.

Other than that, I hate those "monthly mystery lottery" bullshit offers. I'm pretty sure it's illegal in Europe, at least a grey area. And the monthly tax scheme? Why? I'll forget to buy it when it's a good deal? I'm pretty sure it'll be the other way around.

Hellblade in VR is amazing, I should try it out in Linux and see how it runs.

Could anyone make Kingdome Come work on Ubuntu 18.04 with proton/steam play?
I have a splash screen poppping up that is freezing.
