Two bits of news for those of you trying to conquer China. Total War: Three Kingdoms has gained modding capabilities with Steam Workshop support and the brutal Reign of Blood DLC is now out for Linux.

Feral Interactive, the porting studio responsible for bringing Three Kingdoms to Linux announced on Twitter yesterday, that the Reign of Blood DLC is now up for Linux just over a week after release for Windows. It's a brutal DLC and not just because of the blood and gore, the player reviews on Steam aren't kind to it with it currently sat at "Mostly Negative". Why? Well, a number of people think the effects should be included with the game and not an extra £1.99 cost on top of the £44.99 for the game.
Onto more positive news! Feral Interactive yesterday managed to get the big 1.1.0 patch out for the Linux version as well. This is the first major post-release update for the game. The highlights of this are:
- Stability (reduced crashes)
- Many battle AI fixes and behavioural improvements
- Further tweaks to vassalisation rules in order to reduce Yuan Shao’s vassal dominance
- Improved tutorialisation
- Improved UI with key tooltips added (e.g. Food breakdown)
- Babies are now more likely to be born from marriages
- UI can now be scaled up to 200% for 1440p (2k resolution)
- Mousing over settlement names no longer causes performance stutter in the campaign map

Also, Total War: Three Kingdoms now has modding support complete with integration with the Steam Workshop. Sadly, although I expected as much, the actual modding tools are only available for Windows. You can find the full announcement on that here.

I don't get the delay either, they must be losing sales with Steam Play all this time. It was announced seven months ago, the game has been on Windows for close to a year now too.

They get compensated for Linux sales after the announcement, right? So Steamplay shouldn't matter. Even so, it's been a long time and it's strangely quiet on the Feral side.

It wasn't that long ago that the last DLC had been released. I could imagine that SotTR will get a "Game of the Year" Edition (like Rise of the Tomb Raider) too. Similar with RotTR I would guess that Feral will use this version as base for their initial release.
Anyway, I'm looking forward for that one too ;)
