It's been a while since I last asked and plenty of games have been released or updated since then. Let's get talking.
For me, the usual Rocket League has been played a lot recently. Especially with the new in-game event going on, the Spike Rush game mode (video) is a huge amount of fun and it's pretty ridiculous. Even the normal game modes continue to keep the game as my #1, it's gotten to the point where I'm attempting all sorts of insane goals. It's still free to try until tomorrow at 5PM UTC with a 50% off sale on Steam.
Plenty more Dota Underlords as well of course, I'm absolutely terrible at it but it's also stupidly engrossing. I like that I can quickly go for a toilet break or to grab a drink when needed, since you don't have to be at your PC during the battles if you have to run for a minute.
Apart from that, Eagle Island continues to pull plenty of my attention. Such a sweet game and really quite a challenge at times. I've especially enjoyed jumping into the Roguelite mode to continue playing after the story is all done.
I also let the mini-me try out Bastion, while it's not a game I personally enjoy as I find the narrator a little irritating, he seems to love it on the more casual game mode and he's getting surprisingly good at it.
Do let everyone know what you've been playing and if it's worth picking up in the comments.
To anyone out there:
Is there a fix for the white cutscene problem with the game RUINER, I pretty much wasted all day and couldn't figure out how to fix it.
I'm running Manjaro & the game is the GOG version.
I have the game on steam and used Linux mint at this time, but if I remember correctly it was just a GPU driver problem.
Native:
Rocket League:
So much RL, so much. Nearly a drug
X Plane 11:
Coming back to it as a tool to conquer my fear of flying before an upcoming trip... A terrific title to have on Linux.
Steel Rats:
Just starting this one, seems like fun, unique visual style. Controls are different....
Super Hot:
Price came down recently, and I picked it up. I'm not sure how much I'll play it (I don't love constantly replaying levels when I die) but no other game has made me feel more like a Matrix-like super hero than this one.
FTL:
I never got into it, and am giving it another shot to decide if it's enjoyable or not...
Proton/Wine:
Angels Fall First:
So much AFF. Best title no one is playing. Like Battlefield 2, but better, and in space.
Void Destroyer 2:
Just starting to gain moment in this early access title as it hits beta. Kinda like Elite or I-War 2. Possibly, once you get by the graphical style, a space sim legend in the making. It's great, and a one man indie dev project to boot.
The Battlefields:
I discussed this in a post above.

Couldn't get it to show cutscenes in Manjaro, made a fresh Linux Mint 19.1 install and the game runs flawlessly.
How does it run on your rig?.

i was playing dota underlords, and that revived my taste for Dota2, so i was playing that last week. But the community here, in southamerica is so toxic that i just quit. Dota 2 is a fabulous game, but people that play it it is toxic, even in non-competitive modes, that simply don worth it.
So i was playing Rogue Legacy, and i liked. I'm not a fan of plataformers, but this one has a progression that i really like.
I've been playing Terraria lately. I've never played sandbox game before but I've heard many good thing about it. Since it was dirt cheap on last sale, I bought it. Unfortunately, I don't really like it, but somehow I can't stop playing it.Sandbox itś not my piece of cake, but i play terraria and somehow enjoyed it

Exactly how I would describe my time with Terraria. I would even give it a the status of great game, if it wasn't for the shitty control mechanics.

Never played it since I'm on manjaro, but I can test it this weekend. On the steam forum they said it could be an unsupported Linux version problem, maybe some depencies are missing with manjaro.

Oh well, I guess I'll keep Linux Mint then, either way thank you.

No problem, I will keep you abreast if I find something interesting when I test it.
I played through Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love. Still not totally sure what to think of it. It is a good point and click adventure, but it's strange to have a funny adventure about "real socialism"...I have not finished it yet, but I actually find it pretty depressing (likely the reason I set it aside for now). Not that it isn't humorous in an absurd kind of way, it's just that it has the ugly face of existing socialism lurking right beneath a very, very shallow surface.
BTW, anybody had crashes on saving with this adventure as well? Not me. The only bug I remember was audio not working 50% of the time. Restarting once or twice and it would be fine for the remainder of the session. But when it came up silent on the intro screen, silent it remained.
BG is fantastic!BG I and II are probably the best games I never finished :-). I still have my saves from back then, and if I could use them with the Enhanced Edition, I likely would grab that and play some more. Until I get to a point where the combat starts feeling tedious and I'll stop again.
I hope I can finish it this time.
After all these years.
All the more reason to be hyped for (and terrified of) Baldur's Gate III.

This should be fixed (according to the developers an my experience).

But this not, obviously.
I've just finished Firewatch. I quite liked it, the writing and voice acting are excellent (even if the ending is a bit anticlimatic...), so it's definitely a recommendation if you like story-focused games in the same vein as Tacoma or Life is Strange.I loved Firewatch, as I could absolutely relate to the main character. I only ever watched a bit of gameplay footage of Life is Strange, and all it did for me was make me feel old and shake my head about those silly teens with their funny language and odd problems.
Firewatch on the other hand felt like it has been made for my age group :-). So I am very much looking forward to In the Valley of Gods. Given that Campo Santo have been absorbed by Valve, I'd hope that this will also be a native Linux title.

I tried Terraria recently, and seriously could not get into it. Partly because of the terrible control setup (crafting especially), but partly because you can't really play it without a wiki open in another window. I think it's okay if you're playing with other, more experienced players who can show you where the fun things are at, but solo it's nothing to write home about.
So I went back to Crea, which I've had for quite a while, and found it's much more fun to play. Same concept, but a bit more cohesive and more interesting combat and crafting. It's got more of an RPG focus and a lot more quality of life stuff (like a skill to detect minerals so you're not just randomly digging for hours on end).
Battlefield Bad Company 2. This is the first Battlefield game that I've played and I still think it's one of the best multiplayer FPS. No other game like it. Unfortunately, Punkbuster isn't working properly in Wine, so, sadly, no multiplayer. =(Playing this through Proton multiplayer this game works fine for me
Yeah, maybe that's a Steam/Proton thing. I have the retail version installed in Wine-staging and I've tried everything I could think of to make the game work with Punkbuster. But as soon as I install the latter, BFBC2 will freeze with a white screen right at startup.
I think I've decided that the Battlefields are my favorite FPS so far. Sure, Insurgency is more realistic and nail biting, and the COD series is faster paced action, but the Battlefields have the best mix of realism and gaming (it's supposed to be fun in the end) and its degree of immersion in the environment is just unmatched.
True. I didn't like Battlefield when it was first released. As I've mentioned already, Bad Company 2 was my first Battlefield and I kind of had a love-hate relationship with it. But now I'm really missing it and I'd love to play some multiplayer again. There simply is no other multiplayer game like Battlefield.

There simply is no other multiplayer game like Battlefield. If you have the retail version, run it through the Lutris launcher instead and use Proton as the runner rather than Wine-Staging. Maybe MP will work for you that way. Or maybe try running it through the Steam launcher itself if that doesn't work. The MP is worth tinkering for...

Just finished the game on Linux Mint 19.1 turns out some cutscenes play without subtitles.
Example; in the first cutscene when you start the game and the one starting the epilogue are supossed to have text but it does not appear, just realized after I missed the entire big bad's monologue.
