Dying Light, easily the best Zombie game I've ever played continues getting better years after release with Techland pushing out a new update for their 2015 hit.

A new type of infected has been spotted, a "Silver Hazmat" Zombie which is the more deadly variation of the normal Gas Tank Zombie. Damn, those are annoying enough when I accidentally hit the tank as it explodes and then they all come running.

Something about more "dockets" being supported, with more info coming soon. For those who don't know, dockets are a system Dying Light uses to let you redeem special codes for unique weapons in-game. Think of it like SHiFT codes from Borderlands 2.

They also tweaked the VAC implementation, to allow you to join someone who has it on even if yours is currently disabled but it will enable VAC for you. You get the option to accept or decline here, so it's just a nice little helper.

Since Techland often run themed events which can end up ruining some immersion if you're on your first play-through, you're supposed to be able to now turn them off through "Options -> Online -> Live events". However, currently the option doesn't seem to exist. So they either forgot it or it might only show up during events. Update: Techland confirmed it only shows up during events.

One new UI bit that is there, is an easy to access bit about DLCs, could be handy just for seeing what's available while in-game. Finally they noted "some" bugs were fixed but they didn't specify what.

Honestly Dying Light is a great game, truly worth picking up. I've put a ridiculous amount of hours into it! Be sure to do the side-quests too, some of them are really awesome! The Following expansion for it is also amazing, expanding the game even further with a huge map and travel with an upgradable Zombie-squishing buggy—what's not to love about that?

You can pick up Dying Light on Humble Store and Steam (on sale).

Quoting: GuestNice to see more stuff in one of my favorite games of all time. Really hope Techland will do it right this time and release Dying Light 2 with Vulkan for all platforms preferably, otherwise optimized OpenGL this time!

Techland has no plans for a Linux build, I heard that out of first hand from one of their developers. And yes, they have plans for Stadia, but no Linux. If anyone still believes Stadia would help Linux get more native games.

Perhaps... to be honest, I am not expecting Linux support. We're still waiting for an official statement on the issue though.

Quoting: KlaasHave you checked all containers? I remember that I had two weapons during that fight.

I'll give it another try this evening. In all that hecticness during the fight I haven't seen any container.
Thanks for advice.

Quoting: GreaserI'm currently stuck in this stupid museum mission at the bossfight against Tahir.
If you're playing on Normal, the fight is hard but manageable. There's a decent weapon nearby, find it with Survivor Sense. Throwing your broken melee weapons still cause full damage, Melee throw is a skill.
On Hard and Nightmare, it's more like wearing down a bloody tank.
You can get weapons from the soldiers by using Vault+Drop attack for a quick'n'dirty insta-kill. It's what we like to call a pro-gamer move. ;)

But hit me up on GoL Discord or Steam and I can help out. :)

It hasn't been a problem during the last two years.

Could I ask you something? Drop attack works with your card and driver, in my RX560 with Mesa 19.1.5 it freezes and many times crashes, any special config?

The Linux version is unfortunately bugged and very unlikely to be fixed. One of the more noticeable bugs is with drop attacks. They can cause lag, soft hangs, audio glitches or even crash the game.

Simple fix though! Use Proton and enjoy working drops attacks + more bugfixes, extra graphics options for increased visual fidelity, vastly superior performance... ^_^

If you absolutely must use the inferior Linux version, switch to a blunt weapon as the drop attack issues are generally seen with bladed weapons. But seriously - use Proton.

Right.... to all of you promoting the Proton option - what settings are you using? I've tried with 3.16-9, 4.2-9, 4.11-3 and nothing works, I just get a hang on the loading screen. I also tried "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%"

On the other hand the Linux native works flawlessly and I never had a single problem. I've wasted a lot of time on this when I should have just stuck with the native version!

Probably all of those work. I use 4.11-3 at the moment.
The black screen/white bar crash is unfortunately still with us, regardless of version... DL is going on 5 years now. Still haven't nailed the cause for that bug. Windows gamers get that one too, I daresay more often than Linux gamers do.

A few tips then:
- The only commandline option I say is near vital, is -nologos and other than that, a well updated system with recent kernel and drivers should work.

- I can't tell you how many Windows users fixed their crashes by lowering GPU clock speed just a little, like 100 MHz. This game taxes your rig hard, even today. Just saying.

- Always worth checking file integrity.

- Commandline option -windowed, or delete the full screen setting in the config file, and/or even nuke the file entirely.

My system probably couldn't be any more up to date

Thanks for posting, I'll check it out later when I'm home and report back.
