The weekend is almost over and a nice week full of news is about to begin. Before it does, let's get talking! What have you been playing?
Brigador: Up-Armored Edition has been sucking up a lot of my time recently, thanks to a new update coming out with a bit of new content. I have so much love for the destruction in this game it's unreal! This is where I have honestly spent most of my time, stomping on everything and identifying explosive areas to set off fun chain-reactions from a shot or two and just watching everything go to hell. Love the customization too, plenty to unlock from vehicles to pilot to ridiculously powerful weapons.
Since Abandon Ship got a Linux beta recently, I've also been putting some time into that while chatting to the developer to help ensure a smooth release later this month.
I also helped the developer of Elteria Adventures identify a bug preventing the upcoming Linux version from launching, so that was fun too.

Didn't have much time to play this week-end, you know... Work.
Still, I've finished Thimbleweed Park, great old-school Point & Click. Really good.
And I've launched Borderland Pre-sequel, so far so good, to bad they scraped the soldier class playing with a turret was fun, instead I've choosed to play the one with the 2 drones.
I've bought Civ 6 but I'm to afraid to launch it, Civ 5 ate a lot of my sleeping time when it came out.

I didn't play much this weekend. I was configuring my Linux Mint install, because it's now my main system. Bye Windows. Beside that I was watching the first season of Disenchantment.

I did a bit of Euro Truck Sim 2 to check out the new event and to relax after work on Friday. Played some World to the West, the excellent Zelda-like followup to Teslagrad. Finished the lovely A Short Hike and finally started a playthrough of good old Planescape: Torment tonight. (Enhanced edition of course.)

Jupiter Hell. Great game, needs a lot of tuning and more content, but I expected that, it is Early Access after all. But even in this early state a great game and the Vulkan renderer is rock solid.

Loads of Stellaris. Bought a couple DLCs on sale recently and now I'm trying to get my civ up to where I can make some big-ass things I've never made before. Also I'm getting ready to crush a couple of corporations. Put branch offices in my homeworld will they?
Unfortunately the chair in my office is kind of crap and I put my back out, so I'm gonna have to stop for a while, and probably get a new chair.

I assembled a new PC (based on a Ryzen 2600 and a RX580), so it was time to test some heavy games!
I'm trying to play Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, but it crashes randomly or causes GPU hangs, so it's hard to continue, it's a pity it doesn't (still) work under Proton.
Then I tried Conarium: the native Linux game refused to start complaining about problems with OpenGL shader cache. Guess what? It worked like a charm under Proton... I moved to Slay The Spire and is very good.
Then I went through my backlog, testing games with Proton 4.11. Hard Reset Redux refused to start, same for Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter and for Darksiders Warmaster Edition. ENSLAVED:Odissey to the West finally works like a native game, with high FPS even without D9VK (it had previously some graphics glitches that made it unplayable).
Finally a surprise: the game Masquerada: Songs And Shadows works like a native game under Proton and seems one that is very good. Has very beautiful graphics and music, played a little bit and liked a lot the combat system: it's like an hack'n'slash but with active pause. For what I saw, the story is also interesting.
And finally I read some books: "The City & the City" from China Miéville and an essay from Guido Tonelli entitled "Genesi" (italian for Genesis) which talks about what are the most recent discovers made by physics about the origin of the world (despite being an informative essay, it's hard to follow).
That was my weekend and tomorrow is Monday, damn! :D

Finally getting into Doom 2016, trying to improve the performance through settings tweaking. Found out about CPU governor setting, which fixed most of my problems with the game.
And also gave me a nice fps bump in Insurgency. Thanks to the Gol Discord and [dpanter]!
Additionally playing some Underlords and enjoying the changes Valve brings to the game.

With such a beautiful weekend I didn't spend a lot of time on my computer, but I manage to play a bit of insurgency yesterday.
These afternoon I tested space mercs, I'm a bit mixed about it, the game looks good and the feeling while flying is really nice, but the non invert controls are strange for space SIM, and the enemy marker is not eye popping enough for me. Apart from that it's an addictive game, I will probably spend a lot of time with it the next week.
On the steam play side I just tested resident evil 4 which seems to work great with the d9vk launch option. Watch dogs runs at a decent frame rate but without sound, but as I'm on leave, I have plenty of time to investigate tomorrow :D.

I continued my achievement hunter activities in CS:GO. Being a wimp at first/third person shooters, I continue to "play with bots" on Deathmatch with the setting "medium bots". I am getting closer to half way on the 1000 kills with an M4A4. Sometimes I feel like I should get into the competitive realm of CS:GO, but I am so UP (under-powered) that I would be that guy everyone says, "Who invited him?"
When I am listening to podcasts, I want something that takes very little thought, does not require the use of headphones (of course) and the consequences of making a faux pas is relatively inconsequential. For that I have been playing Regency Solitaire.
Finally, I have been playing some SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech. Liam did a fantastic review of this game HERE. It summarizes nicely why I think I will continue to play this game for awhile.

I recently finished "Grim Dawn" and "Prey"(2016) and finally "The Evil WIthin 2" just yesterday. All 3 worked great under Proton. Today, I gave "Dsihonored 2" a try but had issues with stuttering and some instability I also tried "Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus" a go but in that case there were complaints about not enough video-memory on my nvidia 960 card. I may have to consider an upgrade. (or switch cards with my other computer that has a 1060)
