Just recently Klei Entertainment (Don't Starve, Oxygen Not Included) released their amusing parkour game Hot Lava and it's not only planned for Linux they're actually working on it.

It looks and sounds like a ridiculous amount of fun too, a 3D platformer inspired by the classic kids game. I'm sure everyone has played it at some point in their lives. Get a bunch of pillows and cushions, throw them around and don't touch the floor! Klei managed to turn that into a pretty good looking game PC game.

When asked on Twitter about Linux support, they said "Yes! It will come in a future update. Don't have an exact ETA but Linux is in the works." so that's great news!

Klei's Linux versions are usually great, so I'm excited.

You can wishlist and follow it on Steam.

Man, this is great news. There was nothing on the Steam or Klei forums about Linux support, so I'd begun to suspect the worst. Love Klei - they're immense. Looking forward to picking this up.

I've been waiting for this one since I was five and the floor really was hot lava. It went onto my wishlist last November and whether I would be playing it with Wine or Valve's nascent Steam Play, I knew I would be playing it...and LO! It's coming to Linux! I'm so stoked!

I was able to get into the beta test group (I was waiting for a Linux build) so I got a copy of the released game in my steam library. It works great on my system (Intel CPU, Nvidia gpu, latest manjaro) using proton straight out of the box, it only freezes when I select quit from the main menu. Looking forward to a native build.

Hot Lava was the first game I tested with Proton last year and it worked fine right from the start. OK, the intro video does not play, but the gameplay is flawless.

There are lots of funny things to discover, like the pogo stick challenges or carrying a pug from start to finnish. And finding - and reaching - all stars and collectibles will take some time and skill.

Be warned though, the leaderboards will not be easy to conquer. There are lots of impressive runs that make use of all abilities and reveal shortcuts that will blow your mind.

Looking forward to play this natively sometime soon.

Looks cool and hopefully will come out on GOG. One major issue I have with Klei though, they practically never respond to bug reports on their forums. So I don't really see them as reliable developers. I posted several in the past, and they never responded.

I think Klei has detached from GOG a long time ago, Don't Starve is outdated as hell, especially on Linux, and Oxygen not included is nowhere to be seen. Mark of the Ninja is also missing an update + the remastered is missing entirely.

As far as I'm concerned, they're not far from being thieves for taking the money while giving a way inferior product. Supporting Linux doesn't excuse them from any of this.

Yeah, my general impression - they are very cheap about support issues. Which is not appropriate for developers.
