Valve have uncapped the Proto-Pass, allowing players to level it up all the way now and earn even more rewards for playing the game. That, plus more smaller bits in the latest update.

Alchemist, Bloodseeker, Crystal Maiden, Sand King and Tusk now actually have some visual upgrades when you get them to a 2 and 3 star. There's some animation improvements, a framerate option on mobile, melee units will target barricades if there's no better target and Assassin targeting and Blink Daggers are now a bit more random between left and right when selecting the target.

Valve is facing a bit of a problem here though, as Underlords continues losing players. Starting off at a peak of over 200K, it's now dropped down below 40K. Obviously, games get a lot of interest (especially when free) at the start so a drop off was expected. However even when just looking at it over the past month, the drop is still quite large from around 68K on August 6th.

See more graphs on SteamDB.

It is starting to find its feet now and the number of players dropping seems to have slowed. It certainly will be interesting to see how Underlords continues to evolve during Early Access. They've made a number of pretty big changes to it in such a short amount of time, it's quite hard to keep track of it for competitive play. Really great game to sit back with a coffee with, even if I am losing practically all the time.

You can find Dota Underlords free on Steam.

I think the poor performance in the mobile app is really holding this one back.

I used to see a lot of mobile users when I played this game and I feel like I'm seeing less and less these days.

Performance on mobile is fine on my Pixel 2, but it takes about 90 seconds to actually start, which is pretty frustrating.

As for the game itself, it's still a lot of fun, particularly with the last round of changes that added blockades and so on. I only tend to play casual though. It's a little less brutal and more fun.

Quoting: einherjarIs this the next flop from Valve?

I begin to worry. They face more and more competition (EGS, Stadia,..) but it seems, they can't manage to make a real successing game.

A lot of new games did also not come to Steam. And the Valve Index is in the topsellers, but it is a niche product...

which successful games do epic and stadia have?
fortnite and............?
valve still got CS, DOTA, TF2
Stadia starts soon, with good games announced, but ok let them start first

EPIC: Borderlands 3, Ghost Recon, Anno 1800, Metro Exodus, Fortnite, The Divison 2, and Cyberpunk to come
Also they have: Unreal Engine, Easy Anti Cheat. Compared to Source Engine and VAC that is superior (sad but true)

Quoting: mylkamaybe valve should buy rust, or ark... survival games are very popular these days
or a game like Sanctum 2 with workshop

They should better buy CDPR ;-)
Sanctum 2 is crap in my opinion. I played it with my son - it is so boring.

what are you talking?
these title do NOT belong to epic (i would say ubisoft titles are selling better on uplay than epic) and cyberpunk is even available on steam? shall i mention all steam titles too? its gonna be a long list... i also start with cyberpunk,....

what has the engine to do with it? you can use the source engine and use it on EA like apex and you can use unreal and publish your game on steam

beside games. what features does epic have? none! almost a year an nothing for the customer except exclusive titles and free bait games!
