Steam, GOG, itch.io and everywhere else have all started their spooky Halloween sales. Let's dive in and see what's cooking in the cauldron. As always, Steam died at the start of the sale from overwhelming demand which caused us a delay in actually being able to see what they have.

There's far too many games to list as usual, with plenty of the games discounted available for Linux. To get you started, here's a list of some really great games with a discount that we think are worth picking up (in order of discount):

  • Captain Forever Remix - 85% off (itch.io)
  • EVERSPACE - 85% off (Steam)
  • Outlast - 80% off (GOG - Steam)
  • Among the Sleep - Enhanced Edition - 75% off (GOG - Steam)
  • Layers of Fear - 75% off (GOG) - 80% off (Steam)
  • Observer - 75% off (GOG - Steam)
  • MidBoss - 75% off (itch.io - Steam)
  • The Coma: Recut - 70% off (GOG) - 75% off (Steam)
  • Dying Light - 66% off (Steam)
  • Moonlighter - 60% off (GOG - Steam)
  • Darkwood - 60% off (Steam)
  • Iconoclasts - 60% off (Steam)
  • Haque - 50% off (itch.io - Steam)
  • Northgard - 50% off (Steam)
  • Streets of Rogue - 34% off (Steam)

Something else worth trying out for Halloween is Basingstoke from Puppy Games, free on itch.io just for Linux but it's worth paying for (you can donate). Really good fun, challenging and a little frightening too.

You can find all the GOG games on sale here, all the Steam games on sale here and all the itch.io games on sale here. As a reminder, our GamingOnLinux exclusive 33% discount on GOG for Wanderlust Travel Stories is still going for another few days as well!

As for Humble Store, their Demonic Week is mostly Windows games but you might find a bargain or two if you're planning to try more games with Steam Play. However, Humble do have another book bundle you might like with their Linux & BSD Bookshelf bundle.

Added some Steam links now Steam is back up, separate links where one store has a better discount.

I bought Euro Truck Simulator 2 Essentials, Among the Sleep - Enhanced Edition, Buy Aragami Collector's Edition plus the expansion Aragami: Nightfall, World to the West, Two Point Hospital: Healthy Collection Vol. 2 and the Retro Items Pack.

I always put a specific amount of money on my Steam wallet, and I'll just use this for a Steam Sale.

There's probably some real gems to be found, but since I own all but two of your recommendations and since I'm abroad and mobile phones are slightly rubbish, I buckled like a cheap belt and bought a wishlist recommendation that popped up that was SteamPlay only. I'll be playing A Plague Tale Innocence this weekend when I get back from Dublin.

Oh, and just before I left for Dublin, I discovered that there's a tiny hack to get Space Marine working working on SteamPlay too - I purchased that in early 2013, about a month before I ditched Windows forever. Now, 6 years later, I get to play! Result!

Not a great 'native gaming' story, but still important, I think. I suppose I would though...

Woke up with an email from Steam about 18 games of my wish list being on sale... I really want to get some of them but after buying Luigi's Mansion 3, backing a couple of projects in Kickstarter and the new Pokémon coming out soon it might be too much of a stretch for this month.

I picked up a number of titles very cheaply in the Fanatical Horror Pick 'n' Mix bundle.

I already knew that STASIS had an unofficial Linux build (It isn't listed as a Linux game on the Steam page) and was one title I chose. I also chose Downfall, assuming that I'd play it with Proton, but pleased to say that it also seems to have an unofficial Linux build.

There are probably numerous other "Windows only" titles which I'd be more willing to buy if I knew they had a hidden, working Linux build.

This sounds like a good GoL wiki page topic...

I could add Silent Age:

They say they took the native build "offline" in favour of Proton...?

Nice! I added The Swindle, then thought it would look nicer as a table. Feel free to revert, of course.
