Valve have today started the big Autumn Sale with tons of ridiculously good deals. On top of that, the Steam Awards have returned so it's time to make your nominations.
Far too many games on sale, here's a few fun picks:
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition - 78% off
- Prison Architect - 75% off
- Salt and Sanctuary - 75% off
- Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - 75% off
- Total War: WARHAMMER II - 66% off
- 7 Days to Die - 66% off
- BATTLETECH - 66% off
- Two Point Hospital - 66% off
- Slime Rancher - 60% off
- Opus Magnum - 50% off
Another incredible deal is the Steam Controller, which has gone down to £4.00 / $5.00 / €5.50 and they only have a limited amount left so it looks like this is the last run. We've emailed Valve to see if they care to confirm this is the end of the Steam Controller.
Honestly, the Steam Controller has been incredible to the point that I confessed my love of it in an article before. Highly versatile too, with the help of SC Controller. At that price, I might have to pickup a spare, I will be quite sad whenever mine die.
If you wish to show your appreciation to certain games, you can nominate them for the Steam Awards here. You get one of those fancy profile badges if you do, you all care about those right?
You have until December 3rd to pick up your cheap games.
Quoting: JuliusI am wondering if they are selling off the stock of the current Steam controllers (highly recommended, get one for this price) so that they can reveal the new version that allows direct connection to a streaming service like the Stadia one?I don't know what the new design will be, but a new upcoming controller was what I was thinking as well
Did I miss an episode again ?
Like for real I didn't hear or read anything announcing them stopping the steam controller altogether.
Quoting: TheSyldatDo we have any words from Valve that they intend to stop producing them ?According to The Verge:
Quote...Valve confirms that this is the last batch of these gamepads that will ever be made.No link because 1) it's The Verge and 2) that's all they wrote about it.
Quoting: dpanterAccording to The Verge:Yeah you do good to not link it since indeed it's the verge.

Sooo anyone has found any offcial statement about Valve stopping to make ANY steam controller at all.
I mean a few months ago a patent was found about a Steam Controller Revision with two more grip buttons , was it all for nothing ?
Incidentally - can anyone recommend what to do to lean off melted rubber off the back of a Logitech controller ? Did not touch it in years and the rubber is now gunk.
Quoting: Liam DaweHave emailed Valve about the Steam Controller, awaiting a response.Hopefully they will dismiss this rumor.
So sad if indeed cinfirmed, especially now that the SC FINALLY has proper rumble emulation in Linux (yeah, I missed that from my DS4 & XB1S controllers). I'll see if I can fetch one while they last... albeit not from Valve, as they do not ship (AFAIK) to LatAm (and I live in Mexico), so my only hope again is Amazon to the rescue (that was how I got my current SC)
Game works on Manjaro XFCE 18.1.3 with Linux kernel 5.3 and Mesa 19.2.6. Played for about 10 minutes and was able to beat the 1st boss, Warden of the Silent Sorrow.
And the Steam Controller... no brainer at that price.
EDIT: I wonder why I can't put more than 1 controller in my cart and save on shipping. That's really annoying.

I think I read somewhere that it was a limitation in their store software. What they should have done (and I suggested this to them years ago) was create a couple of bundles, 2x controllers, 3x controllers, 4x controllers, that would have solved everything (well from my perspective anyway).
In any case, I bought two more as a back up. Mine has more than 3000 hours only in Rust, so is starting to show its usage.
Quoting: GrifterAgree, just like some of the co-op game bundles. Since they don't have that, I spent $42 for $15 worth of merchandise.Quoting: 14EDIT: I wonder why I can't put more than 1 controller in my cart and save on shipping. That's really annoying.

It's still a steal in this case, but it feels really inefficient and makes me wish they'd sell the controllers in brick and mortar stores.
Quoting: rick01457I had to get a second steam controller of course. The first one still has not a single issue with it (and is already being used to great effect to play the new Tomb Raider). It would certainly be a shame if this was the end of this product line because this controller style really does have a place, but it certainly helps my sadness to be able to pick one up for peanuts.
I’m tempted to buy the new Tomb Raider, any thoughts compared to ROTTR so far? I found that one enjoyable
Quoting: The_Aquabatlike everytime a sale starts the store is having troubles loading the pages, as always!! geez when are you going to fix this, valve?
They probably see traffic increased like tenfold or something, 3-4 times a year. I think they considered the cost needed to fix it and simply accepted the issue as an inconvenience that customers can live with.
