The Wine 4.21 development release is now available

By -

They say Wine improves with age, well my puns certainly don't get any better so you can relax as this week I'm all out of juice for the release of Wine 4.21.

New features available in this release:

  • HTTP proxy configuration through DHCP.
  • Parameter block support in D3DX9.
  • A few more dlls converted to PE.

As always there's a healthy glassful of bug fixes as well. They noted 50 in the release notes, although some were fixed in previous versions. Bugs fixed include issues with: Everquest Classic, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Gothic 2, Crysis 1, Beamng.drive, Star Citizen and more.

You can find the full release notes in the announcement on the official site.

Since you're here, another reminder: CodeWeavers currently have multiple job openings for people to work on Wine and Steam Play Proton.

Are you just getting started with Linux, trying Wine out and need a little help? We have a dedicated Forum just for that along with a channel in our Discord. Don't be afraid to reach out.

This wine release should have a fix for Mod Organizer 2 for those interested, the UVFS should mostly work, however some applications like FNIS etc may/will need their folder structure created manually within the games data folder. (minor issue).
