Mojang just released the stable Minecraft 1.15 build with a new stripey friend, the Buzzy Bee and a bunch of new blocks.

Even though it's not technically a major update and small in comparison to some previous, it's still quite feature-filled. There's now bees, bee nests and beehives, honey blocks, a honey bottle, honeycomb and honeycomb blocks.

Want to find them? Keep an eye out for a lot of flowers and I do mean a lot. I searched for ages, then suddenly came into a huge area populated by tons of different flowers and there they were.

Iron Golems got a bit of love this update too. When they're damaged, they will begin to crack! Don't fret though, your large friends can be repaired now with iron ingots. Also in this release are a few small accessibility tweaks, like the sneak and sprint inputs being possible to switch between hold and toggle.

Mojang are also going for a bit of version parity by pulling in multiple things from other versions into the Java build like trying to sleep in a bed during daytime will now set the player’s spawn location to that bed, sponges now dry out when placed in the Nether, Parrots can sit on a player’s shoulder even when the player is riding and more little adjustments. Find the full release announcement here.

While it's quite a sweet update, I'm personally waiting on the big Nether update they teased during MINECON earlier this year.

The new content makes it interesting, but I'm really missing Custom Worlds (removed in 1.13). The biggest tweak I'd want to set is the sea level so I can make a world that's entirely deep ocean, but have islands from various biomes scattered throughout (imagine the ocean from Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, but in minecraft). Noise levels were also fun to tweak, since you could make some pretty wacky worlds with islands floating in the sky.

It's a shame they removed it when they did...oceans became so much more interesting.

They initially said something like that would be returning after 1.13. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's been re-added yet, even in 1.15.

While playing Vintage Story, i think i can never go back to Minecraft (played it before release, when it was still an "alpha").

Was that not a vanilla thing before? I could swear I've been doing that for years, but I've also been playing almost exclusively heavily modded for years, so… :S:

These new bees are an insult to the absolute perfection that are Forestry bees.
Change my mind.

Hmm... thanks for mentioning this one. I don't think I've ever seen this game before. I'll have to give it a shot!

I also had never seen this mod for Minecraft. I have thus far avoided mods because I don't want to deal with the tedium. I have long been a server guy in my IT career and I tinker enough with stuff at home as it is. I kinda grimace when I think about adding mod maintenance onto the already multiple Minecraft clients and server instances in the house! All that said, I know one of my kids would really like a mod like this where you're working with nature. Is it dead though? Last real release was three years ago. Latest beta release was over a year ago.

About the OP: my kids have been waiting for this bees update very excitedly! That means it's time for me to update the server instances and all the clients! Woohoo! :P

Vintage Story seems a bit empty for the moment, no?
Tchey: can you list the positive points about Vintage story?

Having administered a private modded Minecraft server for years for myself and a friend to play on, I can recommend FeedTheBeast's modpacks (both client and server versions). They're thoroughly tested for inter-mod interactions so they're very stable, and they've got all kinds of differently-themed ones depending on what you want to do. Unfortunately I've been out of the server hosting loop for the past few years due to life circumstances (:() so I can't say anything about Forestry specifically, but it was super popular back in the day so it's probably still around or has been replaced by something new that does the same thing but better.

I took a while to getting into modded Minecraft for similar reasons, but I pretty much can't go back now—even excluding any kind of content mod there are a couple of little quality-of-life mods that make vanilla so painful to play without (check out Inventory Tweaks [at least that's what it used to be called] for a really simple mod that'll have you wondering how you ever played without it).

I think the best way to see how Vintage Story is good (and better than any other similar games, in my opinion) is to visit the Discord : https://discord.gg/sPkD3w

Forestry? It made the cut. It's a microcrafting hell. https://seegras.discordia.ch/Blog/bad-minecraft-mods/
