It seems Godot Engine is good for more than making games, as the FOSS pixel art tool Pixelorama will show you. Only a few days ago, this impressive application had a big new update bringing in a new UI, options for each tool, a colour picker tool, rulers and guides, a mini-canvas preview area, a preferences window and a Greek localization.

It really is coming along nicely, hopefully by us sharing this more artists out there might find a tool they love to use. Since it's cross-platform too, thanks to the power of Godot Engine you can use it on your platform of choice.

Make it compatible with Gimp filters and plugins and you will have a winner. Right now it looks so basic I think I'll stick with Gimp, I've been using it for 20 years and it's a wonderful tool for pixel art.

Ooh, I'll keep this in my back pocket. I'm into vectors right now, but I always come back to pixel art eventually :B

Now i need something like this for Android. Now i use Medibang Paint but it's proprietary and not flexible enough.

This reminds me a lot of Deluxe Paint 4 on the Amiga. They had the functionality of drawing while the animation was playing.

I'm really curious what UI they're using. I wasn't aware that game engines would make UI design easy (well easier than a dedicated UI toolkit).

Oddly enough, I just installed DPaintIV on my new upgraded A500 yesterday :P

It looks like they're using the built-in widget functionality of Godot with a bit of basic scripting for the custom widgets. Godot generally has a really good GUI system - the Godot editor itself is built with it.

Currently they have some problems with Android version.

Yup! Have been building it into one of the lovely new Checkmate 1500+ cases and sticking upgrades on it for the past month or so.

Heard about Commodore enthusiasts , did not know Amiga had a community as well.
