A few days ago, a "Hotfix" update was released for the video capture and livestreaming FOSS application OBS Studio.

OBS Studio 24.0.4 is quite a small release, but for those of you creating video content on Linux you might find this version working a lot better. For Linux especially, the Window Capture function got multiple fixes like certain windows just not appearing and sometimes multiple 0x0 windows would appear. Display Capture on Linux was also fixed up where the crop value would shift the cursor's captured position incorrectly.

Plenty of other issues not specific to Linux were solved too like the audio bitrate not being properly set in the simple mode, some rare crashes were squished, there's some more graphics and audio logging being done and so on.

If you're looking to get into video editing and creation on Linux, OBS Studio really is great for it. Being able to arrange all sorts of overlays and actions, it's very handy.

I still use version 21.0.2 simply because the newer versions do not have the system tray icon with the red light to show whether you're recording or streaming. The 21.0.2 version does and when I've used newer versions, it's not there and have to keep opening home folder to make sure it is recording. I use keyboard shortcuts to get it recording or streaming. In the picture below of my Peppermint Desktop you can clearly see the system tray icon with it's red light on. Weird why they got rid of it in later versions, or whenever I use later versions it ain't there.
