As promised, Hinterland Studio have released a huge update to the Survival Mode side of The Long Dark named ERRANT PILGRIM.

It brings in a whole new region to explore, Bleak Inlet. Once home to a thriving industrial Cannery, seismic activity cut-off Bleak Inlet from the rest of the Great Bear mainland. Exploring is not for the faint of heart, being Timberwolf territory but the treasures contained in the industrial complex may just be enough to warrant the journey.

Also introduced is another Challenge Mission with "As the Dead Sleep", which involves visiting a bunch of graves in what Hinterland say is the "harshest Challenge yet".

Some big new gameplay mechanics also arrived, giving you the ability to now assemble your own ammunition with the right supplies at an Ammunition Workbench. All the raw materials needed to make ammunition have been added into The Long Dark like lead, sulfur and everything else needed to make gunpowder and shell casing. You can also do a bit of smithing to fix up old and ruined weapons.

You can also now break down Campfire rings and Emergency Shelters, if you're really desperate or you're an explorer constantly on the move it will be quite useful. You can pick up The Long Dark from Humble Store and Steam.

Over time, this has become one of my favourite survival games. Often hauntingly beautiful, gives you a lot to think on. Punishing too though if you get caught out in the cold without enough supplies! Worth a go.
