Merchant of the Skies, the mix of exploration and a base-building/tycoon game has improved a huge amount since the first few Early Access builds and the full release is coming closer.
According to Coldwild Games, the final release patch will be released in March or April adding "A LOT" of story content and a "fully fledged missions/campaign system". With all the work that's gone into crafting this very sweet game, they're upping the price on February 15 by €5 (and whatever the equivalent turns out to be for everyone else so around £5/$5 extra).
Recently, it had some huge features added in. You can now build a Mansion in the late-game, gradually adding to it and improved it with 200 different blocks and expand the territory of your Mansion too as well as store goods there.
Additionally since last checking on it they expanded the types of biomes you can find, there's new resource-producing islands to find with Spice and Tea along with their resource chains and the Windmill can now produce dyes out of spices.
With the update that came in this month there's three new ships you can purchase and use, each with different strengths and weaknesses. The Orembai, for example, is extremely fast but uses up a lot of fuel.
You can also customise more settings with the Sandbox mode getting the ability to change your starting ship, starting gold and more.
Looks like it's proven to be the most popular game for Coldwild Games yet who previously made Frequent Flyer, Lazy Galaxy and Lazy Galaxy: Rebel Story. Merchant of the Skies has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam thanks to nearly 200 reviews.
It is good fun if you like tycoon-styled trading sims, certainly quirky and relaxing. I'm definitely keen to see what this fully fledged campaign system will have, sounds very interest!
You can pick up Merchant of the Skies on Humble Store and Steam.
