Feral Interactive, the porting studio behind a lot of great games available on Linux are asking for some feedback again on where they should go next.
In the past, they've teased how they feed port requests into "THE REQUESTINATOR". Looks like my number three from when they asked in November 2018 turned out okay with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. As always though, we want additional ports to buy and more varied titles to play through.
On Twitter today they posted this:
What game would you like to be ported to macOS, Linux or mobile platforms in 2020, and why?
Is there a game in dire need of porting? Let us know why it’d be perfect on your favourite platform and your answer could feature in our next newsletter: https://feralinteractive.com/xx/register/
Feral have already ported a ton of games to Linux including Alien Isolation, Life Is Strange, Before the Storm, Life is Strange 2, Mad Max, Total War: THREE KINGDOMS (and many other Total War titles), XCOM and XCOM 2 plus more. Their work is great, especially now they're all-in with Vulkan the performance is great too so more would be thoroughly welcome.
How about you mention your top three most wanted Linux ports in the comments? I'll start:
- MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD
- DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT
- Borderlands 3
Right now, those three would be seriously good to have properly supported on Linux. As for the why? Well, 1+3 are already massively popular games and with Borderlands 3 coming to Steam this year, it would be a nice surprise. As for Dragon Ball, I'm a huge fan of it and having such a game ported and supported on Linux would be a huge boon.
Quoting: PikoloStadia doesn't use SDL, so it would need some moddleware to take inputs and display on Linux. Someone would have to wire SDL up.
If they can make it work on Stadia, they should be capable of wiring up something that handles input like SDL.
1. Sims 2
2. Sims 2
3. Planet Zoo
Doom: Eternal
CP2077
Dirt Rally 2.0
Untitled Goose Game
2 - Borderlands 3
3 - Bloodborn?
...
...
3 - Ok... fine, Sekiro?
But as i recall the Witcher 2 left a very bad taste in CD Projeckt Red's mouth.
Fallout 4 or Skyrim EE would be nice, but I would be happier if OpenMW grows to encompass them.
Anti Cheat systems would be great since those seem to be causing headaches all around.
Disco Elysium might be interesting.
Children of Morta looks cool.
Also heard good things about Greedfall
Do not have high hopes for big AAA publishers allowing their games to be ported.

Actually, porting companies like Feral have an extra market opportunity now with big publishers. The publishers now run to invest into Stadia ports. That's the heavy lifting. Then a porting company can come and offer a deal: "we make desktop Linux port from your Stadia one, and then handle all support costs for it, getting Linux sales money in return".
The publisher isn't losing anything on that deal, possibly only gaining more positive attitude from users. And it's also a lot less work for the porting company, due heavy lifting already being done.

Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3 And every game from CDPR would be nice, Including a re-port of The Witcher 2.
GTA V & Red Dead Redemption 2, Every Rockstar game would be very nice, Including The Warriors.
Grid 2019, Dirt Rally 2 from Codemasters.
Just Cause and Final Fantasy Series from Square Enix Maybe even Kingdom Hearts?
Maybe Strike a deal with IO Interactive for the complete Hitman series, Maybe even Freedom Fighters.
Maybe the new Spyro and Crash Bandicoot games? They seem to have gotten a deal Who knows what it will bring.
Maybe discuss the Sonic franchise with Sega, Some are unplayable which makes me a sad penguin.
Ubisoft for the South Park games, Assassin Creed series, Far Cry Series, Maybe a Rayman collection?
Capcom, Devil May Cry series and Resident Evil series, Activision with the Call of Duty series.
Bethesda with the Wolfenstein and Fallout series and Wreckfest would be cool :)
Popular indies and some classics might be a quick buck maybe Jazz Jackrabbit 2, or who knows, There are also Lots of Unity games that have no port because of some problem with some unity plugin, A Hat in Time for example. It could also help the unity engine plugins for more compatibility on all games that use it :)
2) The Witcher 3 (I know it works fine with proton but still I would love a Linux port)
3) Resident Evil 2
Death Stranding...
Both at day 1 release and not a year after the Windows version.
Dying Light 2
Cyberpunk 2077
Jedi Fallen Order
Had an absolute blast playing the original Dying Light so would love to see the second on Linux. Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot to live up to given it's predecessor and current hype level so will be interesting to see it. Jedi Fallen Order looks really good, story rich single player experience.... yes please.
