Another small release in terms of noted changes but still an interesting one, with today seeing Proton 5.0-3 for Steam Play being made available.

For those who really can't wait for the upcoming Linux release of Metro Exodus, you can now run it in Proton in the Direct3D 12 mode. Nice to see support for that making it in so quickly and it will be interesting to see how it fares against the aforementioned Linux release.

The rest of this release are bug fixes, with the major fix being a "high polling rate mouse regression" I saw a number of complaints on so Proton 5.0-3 should behave a bit better. On top of that there's also a fix for crashing launches with both The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners and eFootball PES 2020 plus Automobilista being unable to load some assets also being fixed up.

You can see the full Proton changelog here.

If you don't see it turn up yet in your Steam client, you can try restarting as that usually gets it to appear and make sure you have Proton 5.0 installed in the Tools section of Steam.

Quoting: PatolaCan't run Metro Exodus in 5.0.3. Added my attempts in the bug report. Anyone was able to do it?

Works fine here, played 2 hours today with Proton 5.0-3. The Proton prefix was created with Proton 5.0-2. I'm playing using DirectX 11. Don't remember my graphics detail, but is high.

My specs:

AMD RX 580 4GB
Mesa 19.3.4
Manjaro, Kernel 5.14.18
Ryzen 2600, 16 GB RAM

Most of my steam games don't work with the Proton 5.0-3, so i jump back to Proton 4.11-12 that help. The only game i really have a problem with so far is halo with 4.11-12. I have tried Proton 5.0-3 on two PC's so far with the same results. I can't start any games, so its a real setback, so I just gonna keep using Proton 4.11-12 until they have fixed whatever went wrong.

Yep, you can download it here: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install, then install it with (on Ubuntu):
WINEPREFIX="~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/XXXXXX/pfx" ./install-mf.sh

...where XXXXXX is the app-id of the game you want to install. You can see the app-id of the game by using your browser to find the game on steampowered.com - the app-id is the 6 digit number in the URL. So, for Omensight, its app-id is 455820.

Maybe you have the same problem I had? I found a fix for it, it was due to wrong domain and/or nameserver: https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=33508
