Daniel Mullins Games (Pony Island, The Hex) announced their latest game that's been in development for over a year. It's called Inscryption and it's a narrative focused, card-based deck building roguelike.

They're calling it their "latest mind melting, self-destructing love letter to video games" and it blends together a lot of genres. This isn't a standard roguelike, it's also pulling in escape-room style puzzles and psychological horror "into a blood-laced smoothie". Well, that's certainly one way to get my attention.

No trailer for it yet but they did mention on Twitter in reply to a question on platforms that it will focus on "PC, Mac, Linux for starters". While there's no proper trailer, they did put up a rather huge gif which I've swapped over to a much smaller video for you. Pay attention to it, blink and you'll miss plenty of details:

You can also see some screenshots they put up on Imgur here. When it has a proper trailer, store page up and anything else we will let you know.

Thanks to a comment, you can also try the free game Sacrifices Must Be Made on itch.io made during Ludum Dare 43 Game Jam which formed the basis for Inscryption.

Hat tip to NuSuey.

Well that was grim. Interesting mechanics, though.

Looks really cool. Too bad it's a roguelike.

I know it's tagged as, and described as a roguelike, but maybe this line gives you some hope?

This isn't a standard roguelike

Maybe?

I love a good roguelike though. Dead Cells is immense. Noita is amazing. Rogue Legacy was/is genius (been a long time since I played that last one).
