From now until the end of March, AMD have cut the price of some popular 3rd Gen Ryzen desktop processors across multiple stores with discounts in many countries.

If you're looking to build a new Linux gaming PC or general Linux desktop, this might just save you some essential funds to perhaps put elsewhere and AMD's Ryzen processors do pack quite a punch in performance. Our current livestreaming rig (follow us on Twitch here) is powered by a AMD Ryzen and it's a real workhorse.

Some of the processors on sale include:

  • Ryzen 9 3900X – $449 ($50 off SEP) or lower
  • Ryzen 7 3800X – $359 ($40 off SEP) or lower
  • Ryzen 7 3700X – $304 ($25 off SEP) or lower
  • Ryzen 5 3600X – $224 ($25 off SEP) or lower
  • Ryzen 5 3600 – $174 ($25 off SEP) or lower

I've checked over them and the prices are good in the US and the UK on both sites, AMD were pretty clear in their messages to me that this is supposed to be a big sale "worldwide" but exact prices will vary. In many cases (looking in the UK), the discount is much higher than expected. The AMD Ryzen 7 3800X for example on Amazon in the UK has £103.99 knocked-off the price!

No affiliate links in this article, just wanted to point out some helpful hardware sales for system builders.

Heh, I just ordered myself an MSI B450 Tomahawk, 32 gigs of RAM and a 2700x. I know what you're thinking but I'm on a budget (which I already stretched quite a bit to get 32 instead of 16 GB of RAM), and I managed to find the 2700x for 160 euro, while the the 3700x is 315. Plus, my plan is to hopefully buy a cheap 3950x in a couple of years, which according to benchmarks works surprisingly well with the Tomahawk Max. My reasoning was that RAM is expected to get expensive by the end of the year, but the CPU prices are going down, so it's better to put more into the RAM now than into a CPU I plan on potentially replacing with a 3950x anyway.

I got the 3600 for $200-250AUD (something) when it was released with a killer ebay plus special. :)

Hey I'm doing exactly the same right now but with:
- Ryzen 7 2700x
- MSI B450 gaming plus max
- 2x8GB HyperX Fury DDR4-3200 CL-15

I'm not doing my dream setup yet as I'm moving a lot lately but my point is:
Amazon says the £150 2700X is 50% off, so should cost around £300, it still is priced around 160€ on French retailers stores without any sale.
Is Amazon lying ?

Stretching the truth is probably best way to put it. I mean 300 pounds is about the price of a 3700x. Sure 2700x was that price... at some point :). 150 pounds sounds about right, maybe even on the cheaper side.
