Hammer Dongers is a pretty funny (and currently free) local multiplayer game that has up to four people run around with big hammers and try to land a hit. The problem is, when you miss the terrain falls away.
It's quite tricky, even if you think you're usually good as fast-paced local multiplayer action the idea of the land beneath your feet just falling away makes it both amusing and challenging. You can use it to your advantage but so can you opponents.
With a new update out they've added in a Land Mine item, which makes things quite hilarious. If someone steps on it, or something else sets it off you can say goodbye to a good chunk of the map making it even more perilous. There's also a bunch of new obstacles in the levels, some just for style and some hazardous.
Here's a little video of it played on Linux and we both do terrible at it but it's amusing. It really is quite a challenge to keep an eye on the opposing player, environmental hazards, while also carefully watching your own movement so you don't dodge-roll off the damn side:

A bunch of issues were also solved with this release, in particular it's nice to see their Linux build getting some nice attention:
- Fixed a game breaking bug where player would float in the air after getting donged.
- Improved Random Scene Selection to ensure all maps are selected with the same frecuency.
- Tweaked ground hitboxes to prevent clipping out of the ground.
- Jar obstacles were redrawn and look much better.
- New Dong sound when hitting the ground.
- Fixed display mode in Linux with Ultrawide monitors that would cause the game to look stretched. (We love you, Linux)
- Capped the framerate to 144fps so you dont waste processing power when running the game.
Wonderful local multiplayer game, and good timing on the update with a lot more people being forced to stay home. If you're a bit stuck for something to do with others, maybe this will brighten things up a little. Great game for kids too since it uses only a few buttons.
You can find Hammer Dongers currently free on itch.io.
i remember having a lot of fun with the minigames from new super mario bross for nintendo ds, its amazing how simple games can be so fun, in many cases they are better than other much more complex games, because they focus on a single mechanic and polish it as if there was no tomorrow, instead of adding a bunch of stuff without polishing any of then.
this also reminds me of when i watched an E3 and nintendo was the only one (among the big 3) to show gameplay instead of just trailers, in the others i was like: this sounds like an cool game, but on an nintendo presentation i felt like i had an gamepad in my hands and was playing the game, i could feel how it should be fun playing the game.
and this video was just like that!
looks like an bomber-man, but with an original mechanic... now if just i could have an proper chair to play it, and someone to play with...
