Jackbox Games, makers of popular party game packs are readying their first fully localized title with Quiplash 2 InterLASHional.

For English speakers, this isn't going to be that big a deal. Quiplash 2 InterLASHional will be the same as Quiplash 2 found in The Jackbox Party Pack 3. However, for everyone else it's going to be a huge improvement with translations into French, Italian, German, and Spanish. They also said there will be 100 extra prompts for each new language.

Their party games are always good fun but not being localized really has been quite a long-standing complaint, so it's really great to see them expand into new territories. As I've personally seen for many developers, localizations are often great for pulling in new users. Jackbox are great for another reason, practically all their titles have Linux support now too as they went back and ported a bunch of older packs!

No date has been given for when it will be available, however, they did hint that more localized titles will be coming. You can wishlist Quiplash 2 InterLASHional on Steam.

While you're here, as a reminder you can get Drawful 2 from Jackbox free to keep on Steam right now too, that free deal will end in a few weeks.

I love this. I love playing their game at uni, where virtually everybody speaks English well enough. However it is almost impossible to play them in party-like settings as there is always someone unable or unwilling to play those games in English.

I know Italian is the I of EFIGS, but wouldn't it make more sense to localize to Chinese these days?

The games look like a lot of fun, and I'm glad they've ported them to Linux, though it will probably be years before my kids understand English well enough to play them with me.

I think one thing often overlooked is cultural localization.

With many trivia-based Jackbox games me and my friends can easily understand English, but we don't know the USA-centric cultural references. I mean we do consume massive amounts of US culture, but we don't know (or want to know sometimes) USA geography (small towns, mayor names), small performers, local traditions etc etc. So the trivias are a big turnoff for me.

I don't understand why they cannot implement a crowdsourced (Steam workshop or other) questions and answers. I know it is impossible to filter the content, but maybe an intelligent voting/tagging system could do that for them?

I still enjoy many other of their games that are more culture independent by having more player-derived content focus (players drawing, writing, asking...).

Any chance I could convince them to localize it to Portuguese? I really wish I could play this with my family.
