MangoHud, the awesome Linux overlay for OpenGL and Vulkan games has another new release. GOverlay, the FOSS application designed to make configuring MangoHud easy has also been refreshed.

Firstly, MangoHud's release this time with v0.3.1 is quite a small one. It includes the ability to display Vulkan and OpenGL versions and the configuration now auto reloads when modified. There's also a few very helpful bug fixes to make using it smoother.

The latest release to GOverlay is quite a big one, which brings support for many of the new options released in MangoHud 0.3.0. This includes the ability to globally enable MangoHud (only for Vulkan currently), an overhaul to the user interface, dark theme adjustments and more.

Have a look at it all in action using Deep Rock Galactic in Steam Play Proton:

Oh how I do love all these open source projects that have appeared lately, following them along and making use of them is really fun. Part of why I love doing GamingOnLinux, being a part of it all even if it's just telling people they exist.

See MangoHud on GitHub here and GOverlay also on GitHub here.

Looks fantastic, and has reminded me that I really need to play Deep Rock Galactic again. It's been well over 6 months and the interior of the base has seriously changed layout since I played! Also, the new arm animations for picking up bolo cap - lovely stuff. Great game!

Great news! I'm using MangoHUD constantly for my tests and videos, and GOverlay is a very user-friendly way to change the MangoHUD settings.

I love these tools.

But I can only use 0.2 version.
With the 0.3.1 version, no hud's showing.

That's why I love open source. All kudos possible to both devs

I know it's a Linux page, but is there something similar to MangoHud on Windows?

I'm confused about this, trying to get it running by installing through AUR, i put in "yay mangohud" and got many packages listed. I choose: "1 aur/mangohud 0.3.1-1 (+16 10.06%)
A Vulkan overlay layer for monitoring FPS, temperatures, CPU/GPU load and more"

Is that the right one?

What about this query: "==> Remove make dependencies after install? [y/N]" -what should i answer to that?

On Github there it says to "install mangohud AND lib32-mangohud". Do one need to install BOTH even though a 64-bit system? Or what does that concern?

Will there be a flatpak or a snap for this later on..? (simple install for all)

Danke

quick pitch for Deep Rock Galactic here for anyone that hasn't played it recently - go play it! It's currently my #1. It's got top notch co-op gameplay, a fantastic community (maybe the least-toxic game community I've seen), tons of unlocks that keep things moving, and it keeps getting huge content updates.
