Two bits of Steam store news today: firstly there's a Steam Game Festival "Spring Edition" going on to highlight some good looking games, a few of which will come to Linux and there's some demos.
Similar in style to how they did it during The Game Awards, you just go to the special linked page above and see what's been picked. On the Linux side these games have demos up for a few days:
- Aeolis Tournament
- CARRION - absolute must try (our preview)
- Filament
- Lord Winklebottom Investigates
- Neon Noodles - some clever puzzles (our preview)
- Pushy and Pully in Blockland
- Resolutiion - incredible artwork (our preview)
- Spiritfarer
I had a massive amount of fun in CARRION last time the demo was up, but sadly missed Spiritfarer so I shall be ensuring that gets played this time. Events like this are brilliant to highlight some quality indie games.
Evan's Remains is another showcased game that's supposed to be coming to Linux, although the demo is only up for Windows/macOS. Speaking to the publisher today, Whitethorn Digital, they said "working on Linux, but it may not be right at launch" but it is happening.
She Dreams Elsewhere is also coming to Linux, but only a Windows demo is up.
The other two titles being shown off during the Steam Game Festival coming to Linux are: SkateBIRD which has no demos up at all on Steam for any platform and ScourgeBringer which is in Early Access (and it's awesome!).
You will be able to try the listed demos until the festival ends on March 23, 10 AM PDT / 5 PM UTC.
The other Steam news is their fancy Interactive Recommender is now live on the store, as it has left the shackles of Steam Labs. Find it using this direct link, or use the "Your Store" menu in the Steam navbar drop-down.
Sadly, as interesting as it is, the Interactive Recommender doesn't have an Operating System filter for Linux and macOS and doesn't respect your ticked preferred platform in your Steam preferences making it far less useful. I've asked Valve if they plan to change that, will let you know if they reply on it. Update 19/03: Valve said "Yes" in reply to my question on adding an OS filter to it, great news.

Surprised to see that Le Donjon de Naheulbeuk has a video game coming out too. I’ll have to give it a look. I loved that audio series as a teenager, back in the days of downloading individual mp3 files on a 56k modem.

Edit: Hmmm, Spiritfarer and Neon Noodles both worked as well, so I guess it's just a problem with Filament. Maybe I'll send the devs a message…
