It's Sunday, it's a lazy day for some and plenty of you are probably playing through your backlog of games.
I've been testing out the Linux beta of the upcoming monster capture game Monster Crown. One that was crowdfunded some time ago, and it's incredibly promising. The developer has been great to chat to and they seem very committed to polishing the Linux build. Still a long road ahead though but a rather unique take on a Pokemon-like that I can't wait to put more time into
Additionally, a fair amount of my time has been spent playing Danger Zone in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Today I saw something quite hilarious actually; someone managed to use their Drone Pilot starting perk, to capture one of the late-game drops coming down and fly it across the map to themselves. First time I've seen someone do that, was a fun surprise. Naturally, I ran after it to attempt to take them down but they had some traps waiting for me. Those jump pads can be a real nuisance, sending me far into the air to come crashing down—dead.

This month I resubscribed to WoW and cancelled again, too many freezes to justify the cost. Dragged a paladin through every dungeon in classic.
Tried out Hunt and Snare, and sexual furries aside, it's a fun little game by itself, I adore exploration and little secret areas. Looking forward to future builds adding a reward system for the hunting part.
Last night I got around to trying Quern, the spiritual successor to Myst. Seems well crafted with puzzles that give me resistance without completely stopping me from progressing.

Lots of new players now after LazyPeon video about this game. we hit the 3500 online yesterday. just about week ago 1200 people was max on prime time. now its booming :)

I've just started Devil May Cry 5 and so far it's good ( First mission though) and it made me realize how much real time graphics have evolved this last five years, I was just playing old games and didn't see the evolution.
I hesitated beginning a Dark souls III run or re-playing the first one as a Pyromancer but DMC 5 won.

Dead Space. The first two games aged really well, and there’s still some achievements that I’d like to have. Thirdway through DS2 on Hardcore. The exploding necromorphs usually kill me out of the blue.

Night Knight and Yazzie on my brand sparkling new 30 years old MSX.
Yazzie is very nicely presented, though a bit easy and short. Night Knight is more interesting in its level design, getting to be quite hard even when using its level code system (or, if one is running it emulated, savestates).
They are fairly easy to run on any linux system via emulating, e.g. in openMSX.

Got my first MSX in '84. It's still sitting under my desk, along with my MSX-2. I wonder from time to time of I should try some games (like Head over Heels) again or if they're better left in dear memory. I don't know either of the games you mentioned, though.

Rocket League is still my main, although I've been doing a lot of "testing" on linux instead of windows. Cannot believe I played without gamemode for so long (wasn't aware). Other than game freezes it's been amazing, hopefully a -dx11 option I found fixes the crashing. Other than losing some of the pretty shimmer effect that Windows has, it's damn near identical.
My success there led me to picking up No Man's Sky on a whim this weekend. First game purchase where I dove in head first, Linux only. Ticked Proton down from v5 and it loaded right up (+gamemode which i'm adding as default across the board until I see problems). Game ran great, just had to peg framecap down to ~100. Then had to tick down to Medium (from High) once I got off the ground, I damn near crashed my ship from the sudden lag spike lol. There is a flicker issue that does bother me, it's only on the sun but it's a very visible box around the graphic. Haven't figured that one but otherwise fairly immersed in the game.
Also tried poking around Minecraft, but couldn't get Optifine + shaders working while I was multitasking another project...and unfortunately I don't have time/interest to dedicate to getting that working right now, mainly curious what my out-of-box game options are.
Truthfully, as many have echoed, Proton changed everything for me. There's some tinkering, but i'm enjoying that aspect and the ratio of "troubleshooting vs play" is VERY reasonable even for someone with limited game time. I am amazed.

NieR: Automata.
One of the best games I have ever played. Very interesting gameplay (switches between 3D and 2D), interesting atmosphere, lovely characters.
It runs pretty great on Linux with my Vega 56.
Only bug I encounter is that the mouse is shown almost all the time when playing with my gamepad. Sometimes the UI glitches out and is flickering between the keyboard input hints and the controller input hints.
All in all very solid game.

For some months I have been playing WoW Classic leveling with some friends, enjoying it a lot and playing without any issue via Lutris.
After some time trying hard to install Assetto Corsa with Lutris to play the Steam/Windows version, and never succeed, finally got to success installing it with Proton using this guide
Performance was poor when you use several HUBs in races, but after switching from Proton 5.0.2 to Proton-5.1-GE, it worked like a charm!
So I spend racing all weekend with my G27 enjoying the game a lot (thanks a lot to @berarma for his awesome tools Oversteer and the new Logitech driver, with these gems simracing in Linux is starting to reach parity with Windows using Logitech Wheels :)).
If we get some bugs fixed in multiplayer races in games like rFactor2 (Issue #245 ) or Assetto Corsa Competizione (Issue #1420 ) my free time will dissapear instantly! LOL!
I also have started a few weeks ago Shadow of the Tomb Raider but I have it a little bit stopped.
Too much to play and not enough time!!

That's not so strange; they were released in 2019 ^_^
If you have the cassette cable, you can load the rom (for those two games: legal) on your msx from any android phone by using msx2cas.

I have two reference games that I usually play: Killing Floor and Insurgency. Both mod: KF with "Hard Boss" with zeds and Doom characters and extra final round, and Insurgency with "Blood Bath". In both it's easy to die and it's easy to respawn. The games are fast and don't work exactly as they were intended. Both are very funny.
In addition, I also play other games with Proton: this week I have been playing with Binary Domain and the previous ones with the Crysis series.

I finally sunk my teeth into Two Point Hospital, which I got last summer. (For reasons we needn't go into here, Fun With Hospitals isn't really something that's appealled to me for the last six/seven months or so.) It's... yeah, it's Theme Hospital. But better. Not too demanding, but with a surprising depth under the surface. You can get into difficulty, but never too much. Just the thing for unwinding of an evening.
Or rather, you can, but you instantly fail the mission. It's hard-coded that you have to walk right up to the guard in broad daylight and be seen so that he can alert all the others and it turns into the big set-piece action sequence the writer wanted. For me, that's just not Far Cry. What I loved about FC2, the one thing that made me overlook its flaws (those respawning checkpoints... grr...) was the way it embraced its open world. All you had were objectives, and it was entirely up to you how to achieve them. Sneak in stealthily like a Splinter Cell game, snipe the bad guys from a distance, go in all guns blazing, even set fire to the vegetation as a distraction while you come in from the other direction. All were equally valid. But not in FC3.
I haven't played a Far Cry game since. Apart from Blood Dragon; at least it doesn't take itself seriously. It's worth a look. (And if you haven't played FC2, it sounds like you'd prefer it too.)
Farcry 3, via Proton, no technical issue beside the annoying Uplay registration process.The moment that really killed it for me was one mission where you have to infiltrate a big enemy base. Still in “FC2 mode” at this point, I thought if I could sneak behind this one guard, I could get in without firing a shot. But you can't.
I cleaned the maps, all towers, all camps, but the story is too stupid, i hate QTE scenes, i hate unskipable scenes, and i disagree with the "mind" of the game (like, you have missions : find and kill rare animals to progress. I don’t care killing stuff, but the idea of "oh it’s rare, let’s kill it", i dislike). So i don’t feel i want to go further (i only have story to complete, and then "mini games"). Still, it was about 20 hours of fun + 5 hours of struggle because of cutscene, QTE and stupid AI you have to escort a few times. The same gameplay, but with a real open world not attached to story, i’m in.

I've been building stuff in Planet Nomads. The survival stuff is rather easy now. The story bits are ok, but the most interesting part is still building crazy things.With a bigger budget and a better sense of direction, it could have been great. It's obviously a very different game, but I can't help thinking of the way The Talos Principle revealed its story. I think that's the sort of atmosphere the developers were aiming for, but they just don't quite pull it off. It's still pretty good though, in a Minecraft-ey sort of way.

My "main" game currently is Elex. 3rd run, this time with the Outlaw faction, which I just joined yesterday after completing the last access quests. Watch your bags and pockets ! :D
I am already thinking about a 4th run, which would include playing more like an Albe, and fighting alongside the Separatists... So much to try in this game !
I also tried the Bad Seed DLC in Dead Cells, one run in normal difficulty for now. Cool new biome, and a few new weapons and ennemies idea which I like :) . I will have to try unlocking the 3rd boss cell difficulty, and it could be that there are new weapon schemes in the higher difficulties.
Also, I tried Darksburg, a "LoL meets Left4Dead" game currently in Early Acces, but is fun to play. And since they are the guys behind Northgard, how could it possibly go wrong :)

I've been playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker with the "Turn Based" mod, the Pathfinder system is a turn based one so there doesn't seem to be any point in turning it into Real time with Pause.

I have a few games going ... Mostly Transport Fever 2, Surviving Mars and Dawn of Man. I am also trying to learn how to use an xBox 360 controller with Euro Truck Simulator 2 on SteamPlay (Not an easy task at my age - 75!)

Probably going to become my favorite game of all times. I spent Saturday mid-afternoon til dinner time playing this with my kids on our living room HTPC. I also have it setup on my laptop and bed room HTPC and I have clocked in 300+ hours in it. I love the music, action and difficulty of this gem. It keeps getting better and better which each update.
