Blacklight Interactive and Team17 have announced that their super fun casual sports game, Golf With Your Friends, is leaving Early Access on May 19.

The release date announcement comes not long after a massive update, the Volcanic Update, which went out earlier this month. It added in a new 18-hole course, plus the new and improved course editor to make your own and controller support. The actual announcement about it was short, without any exciting details and a real short release date teaser:

It's already damn fun though, even if no extra content comes with the full release (although I do expect it to have something new).

There's 12 courses, all with wildly varying themes from a museum to a space station and there's also a Team17 cross-over with a Worms course as well. You can play by yourself, online with up to 11 others, different game modes, some really ridiculous power-ups and yes you can even customize your golf ball because it's important to stand out when putting and showing off.

Golf With Your Friends is available to buy for Early Access right now on Humble Store and Steam. With the full release on May 19.

Golf with your friends... until they won't talk with you anymore.

I played this with a bunch of friends a few years back and two of them (those usually fighting for the first place) were just constantly trying to upset each other to break their concentration. It was truly beautiful and allowed me to win a few times, too, when they both lost their cool.

I do hope they fix the Linux (OpenGL) issues before final release. It is a fantastic game for the price, but I don't think they really test the OpenGL builds as the new worlds start out with tons of LOD/clipping issues. The last two courses were full of them, which makes it not so fun to play.

yeah i hope that too. it runs good and looks good but some courses are really buggy on linux client. like you said clipping issues and lighting issues. But other than that its awesome fun with friends. lots of screams!
