Streets of Rage 4 is a classic beat 'em up series revived thanks to Dotemu, Guard Crush Games and Lizardcube that releases today. It's also going to be playable on Linux.
While it won't currently offer official support from the development team for Linux, it appears they have given their backing to Valve and CodeWeavers for Steam Play Proton—the compatibility layer for Linux based on Wine. On Twitter, Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais mentioned that the Streets of Rage 4 developers actually provided pre-release keys for Proton development. Thanks to that, Streets of Rage 4 will work "out of the box" with Proton 5.0-7 which is currently in Release Candidate stage and you can opt into it now.

On a related note, Streets of Rage 4 actually uses the cross-platform FNA according to the creator and Linux porter Ethan Lee on Twitter, so perhaps in future full Linux support might still be a possibility.

I imagine I'm not the only one here who had Streets of Rage as one of their first beat 'em up games, it's an absolute classic series. I have some seriously fond memories of playing the original on the Sega Mega Drive (Sega Genesis) so having it working on Linux right away is quite a highlight.
You will be able to pick up Streets of Rage 4 later today from Humble Store and Steam.

Works marvellously well for me too through proton. What about loading times?

The GOG version has no loading times. It's super fast.
Proton-5.8-GE-1-MF fixes the loading issue in Streets of Rage 4.I confirm that, but online play still are so slow, FPS and latency are terrible.
I tried proton 5.0-7 and 4.11-13, forcing to `Steam Linux Runtime` just deletes files also TT
