Not many popular MMO games have Linux support but Albion Online does and it appears that in terms of player population overall they're doing well.

Right now a lot of games are seeing a surge in player numbers, thanks in part due to millions more staying at home due to the worldwide situation with the Coronavirus. It seems Albion Online has also grown thanks to this, as they've shown off in a recent update.

Before the big uptake in players they were hovering rather healthily between 60-80K daily players. Now though, just see how big an increase it has seen:

In the news post, they stated how the huge Queen Update released in January which overhauled major parts of the game was quite successful for them and they've seen a lot of growth since then with "500,000 monthly users" during April. This news follows Albion Online being free to play for just over a year.

Looking to the future, they're sorting out dedicated developers to work on performance and they're working out "game design changes, balancing, and improvements" to accommodate a larger playerbase too. Some of that work has already arrived like with the addition of Solo Randomized Dungeons to give solo players more content, a much improved world map, a new mail system, an updated building interface and tons of UI enhancements across the game.

If you've not played in some time, it sounds like Albion Online has never been better both in terms of players and game mechanics. Good to see an MMO that has a supported Linux build do well. You can play free on the official site or Steam.

I'm impressed. I remember back a year or three having the impression they were doomed. Good on them for apparently making it a desirable experience.
