We're getting close to the launch of the Steam Game Festival, running from June 9 - 15 and we have more games confirmed to get a Linux demo for you.
As more events go online because of the Coronavirus, it's giving a lot of people chances to play games early they wouldn't perhaps normally be able to. Valve's festival is one for a global audience to get involved thanks to many developers putting up demos for it.
For a quick round-up on Linux game demos we already have confirmed: the literary mystery Sarawak, the racing game DRAG, a supernatural horror with ASYLUM and also the curious looking point and click adventure Nine Noir Lives. Today, we have more confirmed to share with you!
Elteria Adventures (Steam Page)
Elteria Team announced their very colourful MMO, Elteria Adventures, will be placed into an "Open Alpha" during the festival so anyone will be able to jump in and try it out. It looks quite unique, with it split up across tons of small islands that blends a 3D platformer with an MMO. Linux confirmation here.

Vagrus - The Riven Realms (Steam Page)
Currently doing a hybrid of crowdfunding and Early Access, Vagrus - The Riven Realms is available to get right now on Fig. It's a very impressive turn-based post-apocalyptic fantasy RPG, with some fantastic writing and a gorgeous setting that I've already sunk hours into the preview builds. If you love a good read, mixed with plenty of exploration, strategy and trading then do keep an eye on it. Linux confirmation here.
Direct Link
No doubt there will be more than that, especially as new announcements seem to be coming out quite quickly as Valve go through all the submissions. We will let you know as more come in. It's shaping up to be a very exciting event.
If we have any game developers reading who will be doing a Linux demo be sure to let us know.
Quoting: BeamboomIt's all VR for me nowadays!
Does it feel lonely, being the only one! :P

Haha! I'm actually surprised over how many of us there are. I've discovered, for example, a lot more colleagues at work has it than I was aware of.
Quoting: BeamboomNo VR games to look forward to? It's all VR for me nowadays!I simply don't follow VR as I don't have it, so I wouldn't expect much VR from GOL any time soon.

But we need you on the VR train! Could we do a gofundme or something, see if we can gather enough for you to order a set?

Ah, the "I know a lot of people", the same argument I use as a fighting gamer, to not feel Im not a niche of a niche gamer.
Quoting: BeamboomWow, way to go for VR, being so exclusive that you need crowdfunding to get one. I don't think Liam is exactly someone that poor to not get decent hardware, still no VR.Quoting: Liam DaweQuoting: BeamboomNo VR games to look forward to? Quoting: SlickMcRunFastThere is a VR coverage void for Linux. Many articles that need to be written like why games from 2016-2018 can never be ported (unity engine didn't support VR on Linux) and why nvidia/facebook/epic are terrible companies.
I can't hide my despise for Epic, but at least Epic can be installed on any PC and doesn't need expensive PC hardware to run. We now have almost half a decade since VR was introduced and it is right now a real most elitist thing in gaming in general. The void you talk about is not only on Linux but the gaming scene as a whole, but somehow this 0.90% thinks VR deserves more coverage. Like asking sports media to coverage Camel races instead of football or Basketball.
Sadly while you are pretty vocal about how VR is great, you(I mean most VR gamers) seem not to be uncomfortable at the fact that is technology available just for a few. And the worst, seeing this in a site that shares news about gaming in an Open Source OS is just way mind-boggling.
I mean VR is right now totally opposite of the spirit of Open source software, one could think five years could be enough to close that gap, but somehow VR is getting more expensive, not counting used devices that seems to not be compatible with half of the new VR games.

Quoting: The_Aquabatjust curious what sort of creature is that in the Vagrus video? is it a Troll or a Monster Frog?Cant speak for what they intended it to be, but as a D&D player it looks like a slaad to me :)
Also, Eteria added to wishlist, defo. Vagrus, not so much.

I don't understand your tone or intent, but as a Linux gamer you're already in a smaller niche than the VR niche. But yeah - I thought I were going to be more unique than I actually am, as I discovered when starting to talk about VR with my surroundings.

So what's the rationale behind being this snarky? Liam has several times expressed it's too expensive for him but he'd love to cover it had he had the hardware.
Quoting: orochi_kyosomehow VR is getting more expensive?? The prices are, like all other PC hardware, going down while new generations are entering the same price point as the former generation. VR gear is no different. Both Oculus and Vive has dropped in price yearly since release, Oculus Rift costs now roughly 50% of what it cost at launch. Vive has released new versions of their set, with price point of new set being lower than their first. So I'm not really understanding your claim here.
