Space Haven isn't a traditional space colony building sim, quite different in fact. You're actually building a spaceship, multiple when you get further and you need to look after your crew. In a way, it becomes a little like playing The Sims in space.

Thankfully, you don't have to wait long now as it's formally entering proper Early Access on May 21.

After having access to the Alpha builds for some time, I've had a huge amount of fun building ships and trying to survive. I've sent many away missions to board abandoned ships, lost a few to horrors that await and forgot to build a toilet once so people got pretty unhappy. Bugbyte have managed to craft a game that I've been waiting on for a long time.

It's quite a detailed game too. Not only are you ensuring your people have oxygen, a place to poop, food and more you're also the one designing their entire living area. Since it happens to be a spaceship, you're also able to travel through the stars and there's even ship to ship combat to prepare for.

Your crew are individuals and not robots, each with their own likes and dislikes and sometimes the occasional mood swing. One crew member might be good for security to send on away missions, another not so much, it's all about finding the balance. If you do plan to go on an away mission, look out for hostile aliens, they like to capture your crew and cocoon them up for later. There's also the possibility to harvest meat from fallen comrades if your time in space is not going well.

Mixing a ton of genres together, Space Haven is really blurring the lines here. You will be able to get Space Haven from GOG and Steam on May 21.

Space Haven was funded on Kickstarter, see it and hundreds more on our dedicated page.
