Volcanoids is a fantastic idea for a survival game, that lets you build and customize a great big moving drill and this month on May 20 it's getting online co-op support. The most requested feature for the game, according to the developer, and something they've been working on for some time now.

They announced the date on Steam, with this teaser clip:

With the update Volcanoids will also add in plenty of new additions, to support multiple people building together. These additions include Bunk Beds to allow players to safely log-off, the game start has been simplified based on a lot of feedback to introduce new system gradually like other survival games do.

They're also working on extras for future updates (not the co-op build) like: improved models for the COG robotic enemies, new designs for the front-drill on your steampunk base to actually visually reflect installed upgrades and new locations to explore including drill wrecks.

All sounds awesome! Volcanoids is one of the more unique survival games and it's already very interesting.

Yes! I'm soooo looking forward to this game leaving early access! (Heck, with co-op, I might not even wait that long before I buy it.)

Played through a few of their earlier releases, and the game is great fun - with a spot-on artstyle too. I can't imaging that adding co-op will be detrimental in any way.

I'm hoping this will be my Rust replacement someday.
