The Yellow King is an Early Access massively-multiplayer online world with a dark horror theme and it's now available on Linux.

A dark massively-multiplayer online world inspired by the horror writings of H. P. Lovecraft and Robert W. Chambers. Delve into infinite dungeons with hundreds of other players to discover secret treasure, ingenious traps, unspeakable monstrosities, roguelike puzzles, and a complex combat system.

While in-development, it doesn't currently seem to have large and active player-base which is a shame as it looks like it could be a lot of fun when played with others. However, the overall user review score gives it quite a positive picture. Perhaps now it's on more platforms, they might start to see extra players trickle in. In the announcement, they mentioned they're quite a small team so they will continue to fix issues as they come up.

You can find The Yellow King on Steam.

MMO is pretty much the biggest warning sign a game can have for me. The best outcome now would be that it's not actually true.

So far in my opinion the best "real MMOG" on Linux is Project Gorgon, but the Yellow King seems to be well worthy of my attention as well.

Hope it fares better than Albion in the PvE department.

I play it from time to time since 2014.
Community is present, not big but enough to make contacts and friends.
It’s not your average PvE MMOG, it’s not about killing XX creatures to level up.
It’s very unique, all based around reputation and NPC personal quests to access new options.
Grind can be real too, but in a good way i feel.
A lot of exploration, both in landscape and in game’s mechanics.
No "!" and "?" to guide you, you have to search, think and ask other players.
The latest update brings breeding to the pet system.
A couple months ago the Fea were added as playable race, with here again, very unique approach.
Several animal forms to chose from (i have a Spider, a Bat and a "normal guy").
Huge amount of crafting and other complexe things to do to spend your time when you are not hunting.
