Quoting: razing32Quoting: MohandevirYeah... Talking about old hardware... Did I mentionned that I have played The Bard's Tale and Wizardry on an Apple IIE, with the green monochrome screen?
Anybody on a VIC-20?
Couple questions here :
1.Where do you people FIND that stuff ?!
2.How can you afford that stuff ?
Excellent question! In my case I "exploited" my older brother who bought that computer for his programmation courses. He's 13 years older than me so...

What programming course is he taking that he needs an Apple 2 ? Really curios now.

Oh man, Eye of the Beholder, now that takes me back... to Kikoskia's LPs of the series. Sandstar, Rune, Valendra, and Lilanva have become as familiar as Spunty and Archer Jim.

No idea... I was 6 or 7 at the time... Now you know my age.
Basic maybe?

Quoting: MohandevirTalking about GoG... It seems, but I'm not sure what to make of that, that one of the threads requesting a Linux port of the GoG Galaxy client just got changed to "In progress"... What does that could mean?

This has been "in progress" for years.

I don't normally play RPGs but from the ones that I did play and complete my favorites are "Planescape: Torment" on my old Windows 98 SE machine back when it came out and "Saturday Morning RPG" that I picked up on Desura when it debuted. I have fond memories of both. I really wish SMRPG was a bigger hit so that add-ons and mods were available for it.
Going to give this one a shot when I get around to it. I loved playing table top fantasy board games in the D&D universe but not the actual p&p stuff.

Did you miss this was decades ago?
Which leads me to another question:
Might it be possible that Linux especially appeals to (us) old farts?

FYI; The Eye of beholder games can also be run on android units.
I use this dosbox for it; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bruenor.magicbox.free
but presumably any of them will work.
Not sure if there is a dosbox app for iOS

What does that could mean?I always doubt they'll do this anytime soon. There is no business reason for that. I'm Linux-only user and I think it'd be great to get Galaxy for Linux, but let's face the fact that Steam made a huge progress here, with their one-click SteamPlay. 2 years ago Galaxy for Steam would be nice replacement. Today Steam client is something more for Linux users, it gives you access to almost full library, no matter Win/Mac/Linux official support. I doubt company like GOG would be ever able to deliver this kind of solution for us...
