During the PlayStation 5 reveal recently, Neostream Interactive had their 2015 crowdfunded title Little Devil Inside shown off as a timed exclusive and they've now clarified their plans for platforms.

The timed exclusive deal caused a bit of a ruckus with backers, with quite a few angry comments aimed at the developers. However, according to what they said, this PlayStation 5 timed exclusive deal will not be affecting the release of the PC version so they're still firmly aiming for a concurrent launch on PC - the exclusive deal only affects console.

After reaching out to Neostream directly, they mentioned to me today that the Linux version is still planned to launch alongside Windows, "We'll be trying to get it to Linux at the same time as Windows. We will be clarifying again on all the precise platforms soon.".

Here's their brand new trailer, see below:

They've also seen some controversy elsewhere. In the trailer at about 0:46, you can see characters chasing the protagonist wearing masks. Apparently this caused a stir as some claimed it was a racial stereotype. The team released a statement on Facebook to apologize and they will be adjusting that model to remove the dreadlocks, change their "bold lips", skin tone and change the dart blower "so it looks less like a joint".

When we hear more about a Linux PC release date we will let you know.

We missed this one on our dedicated Crowdfinding Page, so it has been added today. It's now hit 350 projects being listed and still more to add yet.

Quoting: GuestWell all this SJW bullshit just did one thing: push me away from this game.

Good. Crawl back into the hole you came from.

Quoting: The_Aquabatapparently JRR Tolkien is being called racist

If Tolkien being seen as racist shocks you, then you missed the last, like, 60 years of academic discourse about the racial aspects of Tolkien's work (*). Like basically every literary work, Tolkien's is colored by the society it came from, the mind of its creator, etc. And yes, there are absolutely racist ideals that can be found there. (Gender politics too is abound in his works, of course. That topic might be more familiar to some people, when it came to the forefront of the changes the LotR movies did to Arwen.)

That doesn't mean it's forbidden to read or anything, it just means we need to be aware of it. And discussing these things works wonders there.

And yeah, sometimes, some issues can be fixed or at least patched by shuffling things around. Adaptations commonly do that.

(*) "What's next, H.P. Lovecraft being called racist?"

Quoting: soulsourceDon't worry.
Now that they edit the masked characters, other (or probably even the same) people will complain that they now removed the African culture whatnot and that the removal is racist.

Yeah, why talk about what actually happened when you can make up things that might happen in the future?
The latter is so much easier and more fun...!

Sorry to say that, but:

soulsource, I think you should re-read that comment, because stan is not saying what you think they say. They're not complaining that removing it is racist, but they're denying that they were racist to begin with. I mean, the use of "SJW" is a pretty good signal of their political views here

Quoting: The_AquabatI don't know man, as person that has suffered racism on a trip to Europe, because of being Latin (I was beaten up and a friend of mine was stabbed, and our car destroyed) sometimes I feel some ppl take things to dangerous extremes (ie censoring).

Who has censored what?

As DrMcCoy said, this doesn't make sense. Stan did nothing what you said some people would, he doesn't even take side of these people and thus, obviously nothing has been proven.

When will the world realize that the best way to deal with the "woke" is to just ignore them until they go away......kind of like seaguls. Or tell them to buzz off.... ANYTHING but give in to their demands. NEVER apologize if you've done nothing wrong.

The problem is that with the current "dialog" on matters pertaining gender and skin colour is that the minute somebody accuses you of wrong doing you are wrong, facts be damned.

In this case having characters that are black wearing masks with bold red lips is mocking black people.

I wonder what these paragons of virtue would think if they ever visited a museum or studied native african tribal masks;

These people didn't complain because they thought the characters looked similar to traditional masks. Their opinion was that these little joint-sporting dreadlock goblins promote a harmful stereotype. Just like tomahawk-wielding, scalp-hunting, firewater-guzzling, feather-wearing savages in a modern game would be in bad taste, don't you agree? Or tiny buck-toothed yellow men with coolie hats if you prefer that particular outdated trope.

In the end, the developer wasn't censored or forced to do anything. They chose to alter a character model a bit because they heard some complaints and didn't want to be jerks about it. Nothing of value was lost.

BTW, the style of traditional African masks can be used respectfully in games. I think The Journey Down got this right. And Shadow of the Tomb Raider didn't seem to anger too many indigenous Americans. It's all about the context.

That's just the point this wasn't *anything* like that and people seeing the blow guns as joins might want to read up on freud.

but it's getting clear this is not a issue we will ever agree on so there is very little point in continuing this discourse

The dev apparently disagrees with you, seeing as they changed the model. All this controversy and drama seems external.

I guess so. I mean I won't agree that people who complain about racial stereotypes are attention seeking outrage addicts, whereas people who get in a huff and complain about them get a pass.
