Summer of Pride, a month-long event featuring LGBTQIA+ streamers playing queer games has launched and developer MidBoss has arranged a Steam event to go with it.
Weirdly though, I tried on my Steam account and in a private browser and for me the event isn't listed anywhere on Steam. I only know of it due to being on the email list for MidBoss.
The event showcases a few upcoming titles like Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER, Lore Finder, N1RV Ann-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action, Volleyball Heaven and Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp - all of which plan to support Linux as well.
On top of that there's a few games on sale that also have Linux builds like Always Sometimes Monsters, Arcade Spirits, Gone Home, Tacoma, Ladykiller in a Bind and a few more.
"We want everyone experience the range of diversity bubbling just below the surface of gaming, whether that’s by getting hands-on with the games or watching a beautiful array of diverse streamers find pieces of themselves in the works of queer developers," said Cade Peterson, CEO MidBoss and developer of Read Only Memories, which organized the event.

As for the other side of the event, they're having LGBTQIA+ inclusive games and Twitch streamers make content for 15 hours a day across a whole month. You can find the schedule here if it interests you with it pulling in over 70 streamers and over 60 games will be showcased during this time.

Nobody gets banned for being hetero or white. They might get banned for treating others like shit, but, what's more likely is to get banned because you're *not* hetero or white.
And that's why we need things like these. It's not because of queer people, it's because of homo and transphobia. It's not about saying "I'm homosexual", it's about saying "homophobia has no place here".

It's not funny. It's about acceptance. LGBT people are shunned, attacked and insulted on a constant basis for just being what they are. That should stop.

Yes, it doesn't matter what gender etc. you are - but for many people it still matters. Way too many. How do you not get that?

Anyhow, a "pride month" is not exclusive. How is anything that says "please do not discriminate against people that are different" actually creating a divide?

This would be all fine and dandy, IF there weren't any defacto differences in society and laws that ARE treating queer people differently. How do you propose we, as a society, should voice that THESE things should change? We need to point at the differences in order to acknowledge them and change them.
Accepting diversity doesn't work by assuming and acting as if everyone is the same, but acknowledging the differences, because we aren't.
And no, no movies "are getting removed" because they don't get as much screentime. If we have newer movies that actually are not racist, why watch those that are? This is not Orwell at all. There are other things that are going far more into that direction.
Asking people to be kind (as you did!) Is no thought-crime. We don't have laws that forbid anyone to be a dick, we want *social* change from bottom-up. This is as least Orwellian as it gets.
